Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are no longer working royals and don’t live in the UK anymore—instead, the couple relocated to the United States. In many ways, that has made keeping up with news about King Charles’ illness much more complicated. Particularly when Prince Harry wasn’t on speaking terms with his father or brother. Now, after his recent meeting with Charles and rumors of an upcoming one with William, things are looking up.
At least in the family aspect, because elsewhere, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have lost an important member of their team. According to the Daily Mail, Emily Robinson, the couple’s director of communications, is departing after only four months in the role. Robison previously worked at Netflix as a Senior Director of Publicity. Robinson reportedly left on her own accord and was not fired.

“Ms. Robinson oversaw project-based work for a very successful season of With Love, Meghan and additional support for the production company,” a spokesperson for Harry and Meghan told People. “She did an excellent job and completed these projects with great success.” There was no mention of a possible replacement for Robinson.
As is common in these types of jobs, there has been some turnover in the couple’s staff since they relocated to California. In June, it was announced that their Los Angeles-based deputy press secretary, Kyle Boulia, and U.K. press officer Charlie Gipson had departed their positions. Last year, their global press secretary and head of communications, Ashley Hansen, also left to launch their own communications firm.
Two of the biggest names, Liam Maguire, the director of communications in Europe, and Meredith Maines, the couple’s chief communications officer, remain in their positions.
All of this turnover comes as Prince Harry is trying to mend his relationship with his family. He recently met with his father, King Charles, for the first time in over a year. Now there are reports that William is open to a meeting, with the condition that it remains private. Before their recent meeting, Prince Harry had already indicated he was open to mending bridges and mentioned his father’s health in an interview with the BBC.
“I would love reconciliation with my family. There’s no point in continuing to fight anymore,” he said. “Life is precious. I don’t know how much longer my father has.” The King was diagnosed with cancer in 2024. That doesn’t mean there’s a timeframe with the king’s health, but it does mean that if Harry and his kids wants to spend some time with Charles, it would be better to do it sooner rather than later.
Royal insider Camilla Tominey recently reported that King Charles’ cancer is incurable. “The talk now is that he may die ‘with’ cancer, but not ‘of’ cancer following a rigorous treatment program,” she revealed in The Telegraph. She also said that, as of now, King Charles’ 80th anniversary plans in 2028 are “tentative” due to his ailing health.
All of that makes the recent reunion between father and son all the more important. And it means that Harry will now likely be in the know about what’s going on with his father and whether he needs to worry or not.
