Prince Andrew’s many transgressions, and the specter of what else could be divulged about him, are more than enough for the British royal family to want nothing to do with him. The disgraced prince has now been forced to give up his titles and honors and there are rumors he might even have to leave his home at Royal Lodge. But there are, apparently, even more personal reasons that some people, like Prince William, have issues with him.
“The feud between Prince William and Prince Andrew started primarily due to Andrew’s jealousy and resulting disparaging remarks regarding Kate Middleton,” British royals expert Hilary Fordwich told Fox News Digital. “Prince William was infuriated,” she added, “Being fiercely protective, he instituted a zero-tolerance policy toward any wayward behavior or scandals involving Prince Andrew.”

A recent biography on Andrew and his ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson, titled Entitled: The Rise and Fall of the House of York by royal author Andrew Lownie, revealed that Prince Andrew has been estranged from both Prince William and Prince Harry for years. And his issues with William started with remarks he made about Kate Middleton, which were described as “rude” and “unkind.”
Lownie told Fox News, “My source said Andrew was rude to Kate. And I think he was probably rude because he’s a real snob. He may have felt that Kate wasn’t aristocratic enough to marry William. While I can only speculate, no one has a harsh word to say about Kate Middleton. She’s been the savior of the royal family. Andrew gets jealous of people. He may even be jealous of William’s popularity. But I do know that when William comes to the throne, Andrew will be dust.”
Another royal expert, Ian Pelham Turner, went even further. “The reality is that all senior members of the royal family hate being overshadowed by new, young upstarts, in their eyes. Andrew has always wanted more adulation for his two daughters. When Kate came along in the arms of William and was protected by the other royals, it was like a red flag to a bull. Andrew always thought he should be king rather than Charles. There’s always been a festering envy for many years. It’s probably why William is now taking a very strong line against Andrew.”
This comes after recent reports by The Telegraph indicate that William knows “something still needs to be done” with Andrew that goes further than what has already happened, and that there is a plan in place for when he becomes King. That plan reportedly includes banning him and Sarah Ferguson from his coronation and stripping him of his “Prince” title.
Royal biographer Christopher Wilson told the publication, “I think to a large extent Charles has adhered to that as a safe policy—the moment you start tearing the family apart, where does it stop? With William, it will be a different approach—he has hard-nosed ideas about how the Royal family needs to appear in the frenzied social media world we now inhabit, and I think will be ruthless.”
And considering what Andrew reportedly said about Kate Middleton, it’s easy to see why.
