Nicole Kidman’s Kids With Tom Cruise Reportedly ‘Had a Real Issue’ With Keith Urban—It Was ‘Tough to Watch Her Go From Their Dad’

Nicole Kidman‘s kids had a lot of thoughts about her marriage to Keith Urban. Her adoptive children whom she had with Tom Cruise, reportedly opened up to the Baby Girl actress about her impending divorce.
The Eyes Wide Shut stars adopted Isabella “Bella” in 1992, while they adopted their son Connor in 1995. While they don’t often see each other, the mother and daughter met up recently to talk about her marriage troubles with the country singer. “Nicole was in London all summer, and she spent a ton of time with Bella while she was there,” a source told the National Enquirer. “Bella has had a front-row seat to this split, and she encouraged Nicole to take a hard stance and take the legal steps to separate.”
Her children were aware of the rift between the two, and reportedly never approved of her marriage to him. The source dished, “Bella and Connor never understood what Nicole saw in Keith. It was tough to watch her go from their dad — this handsome superstar who handed her the world on a platter — to this random country singer. It didn’t help that Keith landed in rehab a few months after they got married and put Nicole through hell.”
According to the source, they already knew that her marriage to the “Somebody Like You” singer had run its course. “Nicole was keeping the marriage on life support, and it was sucking the soul out of her,” they said, adding that their “whole perfect marriage charade she was trying to keep up.”
“They both had a real issue with Keith. With him gone, things are bound to get even better between them and Nicole,” the insider explains. “This split has thrown her for a huge loop, but if it leads to a better relationship with her kids, no doubt that will be a big silver lining for her.”
Rumors swirled that Bella and Connor were estranged from their adoptive mother due to their ties to the Church of Scientology. Bella has since shut down those claims, telling the Daily Mail in 2016, “Of course [we talk], they’re my parents. Anyone who says otherwise is full of shit.”
Kidman also leaned to her kids with Keith Urban, Sunday Rose, 17, and Faith Margaret, 14, for support during the difficult time. The actress filed for divorce on September 30, 2024 after nearly 2 decades of marriage. “While Keith has been away on tour all summer, Nicole and her daughters have been inseparable, spending time together bonding,” an insider told People. “Now the focus is back to school in Nashville, where Nic has been getting the girls ready for the new year.”
