Just when things couldn’t get worse for ex-Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson, allegations have resurfaced about the former Duchess of York‘s affair to another man while pregnant with her and Andrew’s youngest daughter, Princess Eugenie.

Author David Leigh claimed in his and Vasso Kortesis’ 1996 book, Duchess of York: Uncensored, that Fergie met the man, Steve Wyatt, a millionaire entrepreneur from Texas, at the Houston Grand Opera’s British Opera Festival in 1989 and started an extramarital relationship with him soon after.

“Steve Wyatt was the main reason for the breakdown of her marriage,” Leigh wrote. “She met him at a time of her life when she was exceptionally low, and felt Andrew wasn’t supporting her. She went to Texas, and she met a very handsome and rich Texan who was very attentive and loving, and they very quickly fell in love.”

Leigh continued, “Andrew may have been her best friend, and he probably still is now and probably always will be, but Steve Wyatt was the love of her life.” Leigh also claimed that Fergie even introduced Wyatt to her eldest daughter, Princess Beatrice.

Photos first surfaced of Wyatt and Fergie in January 1992, two months before Fergie and Andrew announced their split. Later that year, Fergie also faced controversy when she was photographed having her toes sucked by Wyatt’s close friend, John Bryan, while vacationing in St. Tropez. Wyatt later married a woman named Cate Magennis in 1993, ending any future Fergie had with him.

The resurfaced allegations come after King Charles stripped Fergie and Andrew of their royal titles, including their Duke and Duchess of York roles, as well as Andrew’s use of the name “prince.” The loss of their titles come after years of claims of Fergie and Andrew’s secret relationship with late convicted sex offender, Jeffrey Epstein. As part of their fallout with the British royal family, Fergie and Andrew were also forced to move out of their home at Royal Lodge.

“People don’t want to be associated with her anymore,” a source told Radar Online in October 2025. “The honest truth is that she has nowhere to go and no one to go with (if Andrew loses Royal Lodge). Her future is hanging in the balance.”
