Kris Jenner’s 70th birthday party has reportedly caused some drama. And sure, the Kardashians are perfectly capable of doing that on their own. Still, when you add the fact that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle attended the party, the drama is magnified, particularly because there isn’t that much overlap between the people who are interested in one or the other.

The drama right now reportedly has to do with the fact that both Kris Jenner and Kim Kardashian had pictures with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle in their social media carousels about the event. Those pictures were then deleted. Suspicious indeed. Rob Shuter’s ShuterScoop reports that the pictures were taken down at the request of Harry and Meghan. The couple reportedly are said to be “furious” that pictures of them were posted without their permission.

“They were polite but firm—nothing goes online without their sign-off,” a source explained. “They’ve built their brand on control, and they weren’t about to let a Kardashian post ruin that.”

And the report doesn’t stop there, indicating that the Kardashians weren’t pleased about this. “Kris doesn’t like being told what to do—especially not by royals who live in Montecito. She said if Meghan and Harry want control, they can have it—just not on her guest list.”

Not just that, ShuterScoop also reported that Kim Kardashian is ready to cut all ties with Markle after what it calls a “total vibe clash” at the birthday event. “Kim doesn’t do take-backs,” a Hollywood insider said. “If you show up to a Kardashian production, you’re part of the machine.” Except “Meghan tried to rewrite the narrative — and Kim hated that.”

And that’s allegedly not all, as things between the two got awkward after Markle reportedly “politely but icily” declined to film a greeting for The Kardashians show. “Kim took it as a snub,” a source says. “She felt Meghan acted like Buckingham Palace had arrived — and that goes down badly in Calabasas.”

Getting your guests to film a promo for your show sounds like the kind of thing that wouldn’t have gone well with anyone. But, we shall have to see if any videos like that even pop up.

Page Six reported that Harry and Meghan asked for the photos to be taken down due to the optics. “They don’t want to piss off the royal family while they are trying to reconcile,” a source said. The outlet also reported that they were taken down out of respect for Britain’s Remembrance Day, which honors fallen soldiers. That, at least, makes some sense. It wasn’t like anyone could have honestly expected that—even if the invitation said no phones—the Kardashians wouldn’t use the party as an opportunity for promo, when that’s their entire brand.

A source previously told Page Six that palace insiders didn’t approve of the appearance. “It truly shows that Harry is so far removed from the rest of the family. These people may be stars in America, but the pure ostentatiousness is at odds with what Prince William is trying to do with his life and the monarchy,” they said.
