For so many years, the former Prince Andrew got away with scandal after scandal, so it’s likely that even he didn’t see the consequences he has suffered at this point coming. And though one could argue that he’s still gotten off easy: he’s a free man and hasn’t been charged with any crime, just stripped of his titles and forced to vacate his mansion, that’s likely not how Andrew feels.
RadarOnline.com is going deeper into the disgraced former royal’s reaction to the official statement that confirmed he’d been stripped of his remaining titles. According to the outlet, Andrew was particularly offended by the wording in the statement, which clarified he would officially become a commoner and “sat down and wept tears of fury” at reading it

The statement that so offended Andrew read: “The King has been pleased by Letters Patent under the Great Seal of the Realm dated 3 November 2025 to declare that Andrew Mountbatten Windsor shall no longer be entitled to hold and enjoy the style, title or attribute of ‘Royal Highness’ and the titular dignity of ‘Prince.”
Reportedly, it was the word “pleased” that sent Andrew into what has been described as a “spiral of rage.”
“Andrew is so dim he completely missed the formality of the language in the letter – that it’s simply old-fashioned language used in royal proclamations. He thought his brother was mocking him, as if Charles was personally ‘pleased’ to humiliate him. He took it as a final, cruel twist of the knife.”
The outlet also reported from another source that, “Andrew’s reaction was volcanic. He slammed the document down and shouted that his brother had taken pleasure in destroying him. No one could convince him it was standard wording. He saw red and then just broke down – it was a mix of fury and disbelief.”
For now, Andrew has yet to vacate Royal Lodge, and it has already been announced that he will move to a property in Sandringham, where King Charles will reportedly cover all his expenses, so it’s not like he got off that badly. But again, perception is in the eye of the beholder.
“He’s living like a ghost,” one source said. “He wanders the halls of the Lodge in silence and mutters about betrayal. But what really gutted him was that single word – ‘pleased.’ He keeps saying, ‘He didn’t have to say it like that.'”
The words are likely not a personal insult, but a formulaic turn of phrase used in statements such as this one. Palace officials reportedly said that there was “no personal sentiment” in the language used to announce the removal of Andrew’s titles. Not just that, a courtier familiar with the rules for these kinds of notes said: “The term ‘has been pleased’ dates back centuries. It’s a formal construction, not an emotional one. But Andrew isn’t smart enough to grasp that. He’s humiliated, and he’s reading everything through the lens of personal rejection.”
