Fergie May Be Moving Close to Harry & Meghan in the US After Report the Sussexes Offered Refuge to Eugenie—’America Feels Like Freedom’
Part of the York family might be crossing the pond in the near future. New reports emerged that Sarah Ferguson is considering moving to California after she and her ex-husband, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, were kicked out of the Royal Lodge.
According to Rob Shuter’s #ShuterScoop Substack, the former Duchess of York is planning a “major relocation” to either Palm Beach or Beverly Hills in order to get away from the “relentless scrutiny” in England.
“America feels like freedom to her,” a source told the gossip publication. “In London, the whispers never stop. In the U.S., she thinks she can blend in with every other famous face who reinvented themselves.”
It goes hand in hand with reports that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are ready to welcome his cousin Eugenie to the States. “Eugenie by no means wants to turn her back on the monarchy, but it’s very uncomfortable for her in London at the moment,” a source told The National Enquirer. “So Harry and Meghan have been urging Eugenie to break out of the royal bubble and spend more time in America.”
“Harry and Meghan have both said they could absolutely make a place for her,” adds the source of the Montecito, California-based couple. “Even if she just wants a break to come and relax, they’ve told her they would both love it.”
“Eugenie’s feeling very vulnerable,” admits the source. “While she’s not on the chopping block herself yet, Eugenie feels she ought to start preparing just in case.”
Previous reports reported that Fergie had been eyeing to move to her daughter’s turf of Portugal. According to the Daily Mail, Princess Eugenie and her husband Jack Brooksbank £3.6million ($4.8 million) mansion in the “Hamptons of Europe.” The couple had been preparing a “grand suite” for the mother. “The word here is that Fergie will be arriving sometime in January,” one wealthy neighbour of Eugenie and Jack told the site.
“How long she’ll stay is anyone’s guess, but if it’s a long-term move, I can guarantee she’ll fit well into the social scene. Scores of celebrities and stars have been snapping up properties in the area,” a source told the Daily Express.
The thing that Beverly Hills and Eugenie’s place in Portugal have in common is the plethora of celebrities. Reported celebrities who frequent the area and have properties in CostaTerra Golf and Ocean Club include Madonna, Scarlett Johansson, and Nicole Kidman.
As for Andrew, the former royal will be living in the Sandringham estate in Norfolk, England. The former working royal was seen riding his horse for the first time on the grounds on Nov. 17, 2025.
