If we consider the laundry list of things the former Prince Andrew has been accused of, the fact that he kept his title until very recently is pretty shocking. And though these days Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor has been stripped of his royal titles and order to vacate his home of Royal Lodge, the truth is that he has yet to face true consequences. Losing titles and moving from one mansion to a smaller home isn’t exactly the end of the world.

But where, exactly, will Andrew live after vacating Royal Lodge? Crown and Controversy podcast creator John McDermott told GB News that though Andrew is moving to King Charles’ private Sandringham estate in Norfolk, England, he won’t be living a hard life.

“I think some people picture him living in a cave somewhere,” McDermott said. “The reality is more nuanced. His public life is gone, his world has shrunk dramatically, but he’ll still be living on an estate and has access to comfort.”

As it is, Andrew isn’t exactly out and doing many events these days. That has been the case since he was forced to step down as a senior royal after his 2019 Newsnight interview. But part of the problem is that he still attends holidays with the family, and events like funerals, so he has been photographed with King Charles, his other siblings, and even Prince William lately.

“It’s not Alcatraz,” McDermott added. “It’s a very specific kind of isolation—private, restricted, but still cushioned.” And Andrew has yet to depart Royal Lodge, as new photos of him place him still at Windsor.

However, that doesn’t mean he’s happy about what happened. “I think it will be pretty well a living hell for him, given his particular fondness for titles and his entitled attitude,” royal author Richard Fitzwilliams told The Guardian. “One of the troubles with him is that he has proven to be so greedy.”

“People see him as entitled, greedy and also unbelievably bovine because of that extraordinary Newsnight interview,” he added.

In fact, RadarOnline.com recently reported that the statement that confirmed he’d been stripped of his remaining titles hit Andrew hard, with the outlet claiming he “sat down and wept tears of fury” at reading it.

The statement read: “The King has been pleased by Letters Patent under the Great Seal of the Realm dated 3 November 2025 to declare that Andrew Mountbatten Windsor shall no longer be entitled to hold and enjoy the style, title or attribute of ‘Royal Highness’ and the titular dignity of ‘Prince.” And what set off Andrew was reportedly the word “pleased.”

“Andrew is so dim he completely missed the formality of the language in the letter – that it’s simply old-fashioned language used in royal proclamations. He thought his brother was mocking him, as if Charles was personally ‘pleased’ to humiliate him. He took it as a final, cruel twist of the knife.”

The outlet also added that, “Andrew’s reaction was volcanic. He slammed the document down and shouted that his brother had taken pleasure in destroying him. No one could convince him it was standard wording. He saw red and then just broke down – it was a mix of fury and disbelief.”
