Kelsea Ballerini & Chase Stokes Reportedly Had ‘Jealousy’ Issues in Their ‘Toxic’ Relationship Before Their Breakup—She ‘Blocked’ Him

Kelsea Ballerini and Chase Stokes have called it quits, and sources are saying that the end of their relationship was more complicated than we realize.
Chase Stokes seemingly confirmed their split in a series of Instagram stories. “Don’t believe the media. I’m blocked, I did nothing wrong,” the Outer Banks star wrote in the first post, per People. “I’m sorry for those who believed in us.”
“It is what it is,” Stokes continued. “Onwards and upwards.”
According to sources familiar with the situation to Us Weekly, “jealousy definitely got in the way” for the couple, as the country singer “had a lot of trust issues” stemming from her failed marriage to Morgan Evans. With her relationship with Stokes, it’s “been hard for her to trust again.”
However, the source says that in the end, Ballerini “of course cares” about Stokes, but there were “a lot of expectations” amid her busy schedule during touring.
“Chase really did try to make it work and loves her,” the insider explained, saying that they’re “taking space” and “aren’t talking right now.”
“There’s a chance they could get back together,” the source hinted, but they aren’t seeing each other.
The ex-couple was rumored to have broken up in September 2025. “It was a hard split,” a source told Us. “They had been arguing a lot recently, and their communication wasn’t great in the last month. They were both traveling so much and trying to juggle everything, and the arguments piled up.” However, things seemed like they were on the up when they were photographed holding hand in Croatia in Oct. 2025.
Sources told Us Weekly that they were giving their relationship another go on Nov. 10. “There’s still a lot of love there, so they fell back into it very naturally,” noting the pair “never really stopped being in touch after their brief split.”
The couple got together in 2023. StyleCaster caught up with Kelsea during the early stages of their relationship. “The thing that we’ve decided, and to each their own, is when you’re with someone that you feel secure with and that you’re proud to be with, why not share it?” she said in her cover story. “He’s also a Virgo; we’re both Labrador Retrievers in human form. It doesn’t take much conversation to be on the same page. It’s been half a year and it’s been great.”
