The drama surrounding the former Prince Andrew was always going to affect the rest of his immediate family. Particularly because Andrew was allowed to still attend British royal family events and even be seen in public with King Charles, Prince William, and other prominent members of the family, until the latest round of scandal finally forced the king’s hand.
As King Charles and Prince William attempt to do damage control over their decision to still associate with Andrew, his immediate family is also in the crosshairs. That includes his ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson, and his daughters, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie. And though Fergie has her own relationship with Jeffrey Epstein to add to the scandal, Beatrice and Eugenie have not been reported to have any controversial association. Other than their parents, that is.

What happens to the now? Well, royal biographer Andrew Lownie told NewsNation that William will change things. “He will move towards a more European style of monarchy,” he said, citing as examples the monarchies of Spain and Denmark.
“William is a lot more family focused,” Lownie said. “He doesn’t work before 10 in the morning and stops work by 4 in the evening and takes very few trips abroad. Everyone needs to come to terms with the fact that, you know, (the royal family) is not going to be able to open every supermarket available.”
Reports indicate that Andrew agreed to give up his titles in exchange for his daughters retaining theirs. But that agreement was made with King Charles, not Prince William. And there might be even more accountability coming for the two princesses when it comes to where they live and what kind of rent they pay. Beatrice has a residence in St James’s Palace, while Eugenie has a cottage in Kensington Palace.
All of this comes after reports that William wasn’t happy the king “personally approved” a new patronage for Princess Beatrice at the Outward Bound Trust. Rob Shuter’s ShuterScoop reported that he is “strongly opposed” to his cousins doing royal engagements, saying it’s “too soon” and “too risky.”
“William wanted the Yorks out of sight until after the King’s next health review,” a source explained. “But His Majesty insisted—he thinks the family needs to heal in public.” Another source added, “William’s pragmatic. He knows the Yorks are poison with the public. His father just won’t see it.”
Other reports had also indicated that the fact that the titles for Beatrice and Eugenie were used as a bargaining chip in the negotiations with Andrew to give up his own titles and vacate Royal Lodge didn’t sit well with Beatrice and Eugenie. In fact, the National Examiner reported that the two were “trash-talking” their cousin.
“These bad feelings towards William will do them no good in the long run, but right now, the emotion is running sky-high,” an insider said. “They can’t help themselves. At the end of the day, they’re their parents’ daughters, very headstrong and defiant, and that’s really coming to the fore.”
