None of us can escape the passage of time. And that’s true for royalty as well. King Charles was already the oldest person to ascend to the throne when he was crowned king, and now, with his cancer, has added another wrinkle to an already complicated outlook. And Queen Camilla is around the same age as Charles.
A stark reminder of all of this is the new report that a woman who was once called Queen Camilla‘s “love rival” has passed away at the age of 90. Lady Amabel Lindsay, daughter of the 9th Earl of Hardwicke, sadly passed away earlier this month, though there are no reports about whether she died of a possible illness or natural causes. In the Eden Confidential column for the Daily Mail, Richard Eden recounted that Lady Amabel was once one of the women competing for the attention of Andrew Parker Bowles, before he went on to marry Camilla.

Eden even goes on to tell a story told to him by his predecessor, Nigel Dempster, “Andrew was living in a flat in Portobello Road, Notting Hill, to which Camilla had a key. One day, she let herself in when he was not expecting her, and she found him flustered,” he says about Andrew Parker Bowles, Camilla’s first husband.
“She knew someone else was in the flat and, looking around, found Lady Amabel, somewhat disarrayed, crouched behind the sofa.”
The reasons for the rivalry are clear. Whether that rivalry continued later on in life, however, is unknown.
Ironically, Camilla’s first husband was also very close to Princess Anne, with the two sharing an interest in horses. In fact, the two remain close to this day, with Parker Bowles being one of Zara Tindall’s godfathers. Apparently, everyone in the royal circles knows each other.
All of this comes as reports abound that King Charles is not doing well. Royal expert Hilary Fordwich told Fox News Digital, “During Remembrance Sunday…King Charles was particularly emotional, shedding a tear while standing in silence. He was withered and withdrawn, with one able to observe the toll the Andrew nightmare had taken on him.”
The royal expert also said the siblings are unlikely to be seen together again. “While Andrew, of course, will always remain his brother, now that he’s a private citizen, The King is likely to further publicly distance himself,” she said. “We won’t be seeing Andrew at any birthday festivities. He’s actually made it worse for himself due to his pride and pervasively privileged attitude, thinking he’s still entitled.”
Meanwhile, the king will focus on his health. Rob Shuter’s Substack, recently reported that the King is “dying” and his frail health has forced Prince William to take on more royal duties. The gossip journalist said that Charles is “seriously unwell but determined to carry on,” with a source adding, “He’s exhausted, but he won’t stop. “Every morning he insists on reading his red boxes. He believes his service to the country is his calling — and he’ll keep going as long as he can.”
