Prince Harry aired out his thoughts about Donald Trump on primetime TV. The Duke of Sussex went on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert for some funny skits and took a jab at POTUS.

The late-night host made a skit that was making fun of Hallmark movies, including one that was titled The Gingerbread Christmas Prince Saves Christmas in Nebraska. Harry made his grand entrance and joked that he was auditioning for the role. Colbert asked why he was there to do that and the Prince teased, “You Americans are obsessed with Christmas movies, and you’re clearly obsessed with royalty, so why not?” Colbert then retorted, “Look, I wouldn’t say we’re obsessed with Royalty.” To which, Harry replied, “Really? I hear you elected a king.”

The joke refers to a post made by Trump on his social media app Truth Social, where he referred to himself as a King. The post subsequently sparked the “No Kings” protest across the country in response to what the organizers call Trump’s authoritarian policies.

Harry also doubled down on what he would do to land the fictional role in the made-up Hallmark movie. “I’ll record a self-tape, I’ll fly myself to an audition, settle a baseless lawsuit with the White House — all the things you people in TV do.” “Hey, I didn’t do any of those things,” Colbert replied. “Maybe that’s why you’re canceled,” Harry jokingly responded.

The joke comes months after it was reported that Harry felt “deliberately snubbed” by the president after he visited the UK for a state visit. Trump seemingly shaded Harry in a speech, in which he commended Charles for raising William to be a “remarkable son” without mentioning anything about the heir’s younger brother. A source told Radar Online, “Harry definitely saw it as a deliberate snub. Seeing his family laughing along felt like a stab in the back. To him, it seemed as if they were cozying up to someone who has mocked him and Meghan for years,” the insider said. “He still lives in fear of what Trump might do – the possibility of being deported is something he can’t shake from his mind.”

During a February 2024 press conference, Trump also confirmed that he wouldn’t “protect” Harry if worse came to worst for the Duke of Sussex. “I wouldn’t protect him. He betrayed the Queen Elizabeth II. That’s unforgivable. He would be on his own if it was down to me,” Trump said at the time.
