The question of what will happen to Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie has been one of the most talked-about topics surrounding the British royal family ever since Andrew’s titles were stripped and he and Fergie were ordered to vacate Royal Lodge. The two princesses have, after all, always been well-regarded by everyone and yet have kept a low profile ever since there were new reports about both Andrew and Sarah Ferguson’s ties to Jeffrey Epstein.
Now, it seems they’ve gained an important ally. Royal biographer Robert Jobson told Hello! that Prince William doesn’t want Beatrice and Eugenie to be punished for Andrew Mountbouten-Windsor’s “downfall.”

“Their titles were never in doubt,” he added, even going on to say there’s a place for both in William’s idea of the monarchy. “His position is direct: Beatrice and Eugenie must not be punished for their father’s alleged sins.”
“Those close to him say he is weary of the hysteria around Andrew,” Jobson explained. “The outrage. The noise. The moral grandstanding.” And though according to the expert, William feels like action against Andrew was necessary, “Accountability belongs to Andrew, not to his daughters.”
“William is not interested in reopening old wounds,” he continued. “His focus is forward, and forward includes the York sisters,” he said. “A slimmed-down monarchy still needs depth. Beatrice and Eugenie bring steadiness, purpose, and no theatrics.”
“Their restraint has earned quiet public respect,” he also added, explaining that “Both the King and Prince William know the difference between disciplining a disgraced man and stripping identity from two women who have shown loyalty in the hardest years.”
Royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams recently told The Daily Mail that the sisters are going through a hard time after what happened. “This will be a deeply painful period for the sisters, as their parents are both likely to languish in public disgrace and foreseeably so,” adding that “The Yorks have always been a close-knit family.”
Camilla Tominey of The Telegraph recently reported that sisters are still expected to be invited to family Christmas, even if their parents are not. “They really are a credit to the royal family,” a source said. “They haven’t done anything to deserve what has happened. It’s all of their parents’ making.” The insider added, “If Beatrice and Eugenie want to spend Christmas with the rest of the royal family, I’m sure they’ll be welcomed. But if they want to spend it privately with their parents, everyone will understand. Christmas can be quite complicated for most families, and the royals are certainly no different.”
All of this is particularly good news for Beatrice and Eugenie after recent reports indicated they had not taken their father’s demotion, and the fact that they were used as bargaining chips to make him agree, well. “Everyone’s telling them how lucky they are, but the fact that William was using that as a bargaining chip was something that still sits very badly with them,” an insider told the National Examiner.
Reportedly, that pushed the sisters into “trash-talking” their cousin. “These bad feelings towards William will do them no good in the long run, but right now, the emotion is running sky-high,” an insider claimed. “They can’t help themselves. At the end of the day, they’re their parents’ daughters, very headstrong and defiant, and that’s really coming to the fore.”
Another family crisis averted. At least for now.
