The position of everyone close to the former prince Andrew and his ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson, is precarious right now. And it’s not just because Andrew Mountbouten Windsor has been stripped of his titles and ordered to vacate Royal Lodge, but also because the British royal family is doing its best to put distance between the numerous scandals Andrew has been involved in and themselves. And this, of course, affects anyone in Andrew’s orbit, like his daughters.
Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie have, so far, retained their titles and reports have indicated King Charles went to great lengths to try to protect them from the fallout. However, reports also indicated that their position was used as a bargaining chip for Andrew to agree to step back, so it’s easy to believe that the familial relationship between them and the rest of the royals is somewhat strained. But is it?

Well, the two chose not to attend Kate Middleton’s carol service at Westminster Abbey despite being invited recently, which could be a sign the relationship isn’t all that great. But it could also be a sign that the two want to maintain a lower profile these days. The sisters did post a formal apology on social media.
“Wish Bea and I could have been celebrating tonight with our family,” Eugenie wrote on Instagram. “Wishing @princeandprincessofwales such a special evening at her incredible carol service. What an amazing message of love and hope.”
The service, which took place on Friday, was the fifth annual “Together at Christmas” carol service hosted by the Princess of Wales. Around 1,600 people attended. Middleton reportedly invited the sisters personally, with royal commentator and broadcaster Neil Sean telling Fox News Digital. “Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie received personal invitations for this year’s ‘Together at Christmas’ from Princess Catherine’s office.”
“This is Catherine’s project, and she has the final say — very similar to the way Prince William operates Earthshot,” the royal expert explained. “Above all, yes, the royal family wants to be seen as united amid what has been a very difficult year.”
However, even then there was speculation they might not attend. “This puts the sisters in a very difficult dilemma,” Sean explained. “If they don’t attend, it looks like they’re snubbing a prestigious invite. If they do attend, they know there could be a media circus with them at the center of attention.”
This is particularly true after recent reports that the sisters weren’t exactly happy with being used as leverage for their father to agree to step back. “Everyone’s telling them how lucky they are, but the fact that William was using that as a bargaining chip was something that still sits very badly with them,” an insider told the National Examiner.
Reportedly, the sisters have even taken to “trash-talking” their cousin. “These bad feelings towards William will do them no good in the long run, but right now, the emotion is running sky-high,” an insider claimed. “They can’t help themselves. At the end of the day, they’re their parents’ daughters, very headstrong and defiant, and that’s really coming to the fore.”
