Andrew Mountbouten Windsor has been stripped of his titles and ordered to vacate his mansion at Royal Lodge. The disgraced former prince was reported to be moving to his brother’s state in Sandringham, far away from the spotlight. But where exactly is Andrew moving, and when will the move take place?
Reportedly, according to the Mail on Sunday, Andrew has done all he can to put off the move until the new year, but he will indeed be moving in 2026, and since the property he will allegedly occupy is undergoing renovations, he will be moving to a “temporary” Sandringham property the size of a “shoebox.” Ouch.

The outlet says his belongings have started being removed from Royal Lodge under “cover of darkness,” with items being moved “to a Windsor storage facility belonging to the Crown Estate.”
However, the move will reportedly take some time due to the fact that Andrew is a “natural hoarder,” and has “filled rooms of his Windsor home with clutter and was not prepared to accept help sorting through his private collections.” The state of Royal Lodge is apparently such that the outlet said that “some anterooms are filled to the ceiling with documents and photographs.”
No details have emerged about the apartment Andrew is reportedly set to occupy while his new property is ready or the property itself. Rob Shuter’s ShuterScoop had previously reported that Andrew was “refusing to leave” Royal Lodge and had been “telling people he wants £75,000,000 to even think about moving out.” Once the move was reportedly agreed, he even had conditions about his new home, with the gossip columnist adding that he demanded “a cook, a gardener, a housekeeper, a driver,” as well as police protection.
This all lines up with earlier reports from the Daily Beast that Andrew demanded a “six or seven bedroom” home in Sandringham. A friend of his told the outlet, “Andrew has done exactly what has been asked of him, and he just wants to be left alone. He is giving up the lease on one of England’s finest houses and expects to be treated fairly.”
A different source told the outlet, “Knowing Andrew, this was always going to be about money. Andrew is essentially being bought out of the lease, so he will haggle over every last detail of the deal.”
The disgraced royal was reportedly meant to be out before Christmas, but RadarOnline.com reported the “lengthy” and “protracted” formalities involved in giving up the property kept Andrew in past the holidays. “He is leaning on every technical step available to slow down his exit from Royal Lodge.”
Not just that, Andrew, who remains eighth in line to the throne, seems to be taking advantage of the loopholes. “He understands the succession rules protect him, and he is holding onto that for dear life,” a senior royal source claimed.
Whether that keeps him off a tiny apartment in Sandringham while his new property is ready or not, we will have to wait and see.
