Kate & Fergie’s Relationship Takes Drastic Turn After the Ex-Duchess’ ‘Self-Sabotage’—It’s ‘Utter Madness’

Kate Middleton and Sarah Ferguson’s friendship has been an unlikely tale, but new revelations from royal sources say that the Princess of Wales and the former Duchess of York’s bond might be heading into hot water.
Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor’s scandals have reportedly tired out Prince William and his wife, and they’ve been grateful to see his uncle out the door with his titles stripped and exiled to Sandringham. “Kate is pleased, though it’s a little harder for her to admit this because she and Sarah were previously so friendly. She hated the idea of residing so close to Andrew and feels relieved that he’s no longer living in such close proximity,” a source told Closer UK. “Kate does feel badly for Sarah, but there’s no denying the fact she has made some terrible choices. The fact that she elected to try to lie her way out of trouble for such a long time has ultimately come at a terrible price.”
The pair’s friendship reportedly developed due to their shared experiences with cancer. Middleton was diagnosed with an undisclosed form of cancer at the beginning of 2024 and announced she was in remission early in 2025. Sarah Ferguson has had cancer twice: breast cancer in June 2023 and malignant melanoma in January 2024.
One point of contention between the two, however, is the new rumor that Fergie would be willing to take back Andrew. “In her view, taking him back would be utter madness and an act of total self-sabotage on Sarah’s part,” the source said. “She very much doesn’t want Sarah to fall back into his trap.”
RadarOnline, reported that the loss of their titles and the eviction from Royal Lodge has brought them closer together. “Andrew and Sarah share a unique understanding that no one else can relate to,” an insider told the outlet.
“Friends are saying they appear happier and closer than they have [been] in years, and there’s a definite spark when they’re alone,” the source added. Another source suggested there’s a “thrill” for the two in navigating the scandal together
Kate is urging Fergie to take the high road. ‘It’s a real opportunity for Sarah to put her hands up and show some honesty, transparency and class – not crawl back to Andrew and be sucked in by his manipulation as she has been in the past,’ the Closer source says.
