After the death of Rob Reiner and his wife Michele, new reports emerged of what went down hours before their murders.

Nick, the son of The Princess Bride director, was arrested and charged with two counts for the murder of his parents. The 32-year-old reportedly had a tense conversation with actor Bill Hader at Conan O’Brien’s holiday party on Dec. 13. Sources told NBC News that Nick had allegedly interrupted Hader’s conversation. When the comedian told him that the conversation was private, Reiner’s son appeared to stand still and stare before “storming off.”

A source told the Daily Mail that Bill Hader, “is horrified over what happened and is extremely sad that what went down, actually went down.” The insider added that the Barry creator “doesn’t want this tragedy to be made about him, and any disagreement he may have had with Nick, Bill is refusing to talk about it.”

“With total respect for Rob and Michele and their family, Bill is not going to talk about his interaction with Nick publicly,” the source added, saying that the comedian “doesn’t want to be connected to this story over a few-minute interaction at a party that was meant to be fun and festive.”

Photos obtained by Page Six showed Hader looking “strained while having an intense phone conversation” just two days after the murders.

According to TMZ, Nick and his parents were in a “very loud argument” at Conan O’Brien’s house during a Christmas Party. Sources told the site that “Michele had been anguishing to friends over the last few months that she and Rob were at their wits’ end over Nick’s mental illness and alleged substance abuse issues, and did not know what to do with their son Nick, saying, ‘We’ve tried everything.’”

Nick Reiner has discussed his struggles with addiction. In 2015, he and his father made Being Charlie, a semi-autobiographical film about a young man dealing with addiction. His father spoke about the nuances and discoveries while making the film with his son. “The fact that we were dealing with things that Nick had gone through … it forced me to have to see more clearly and understand more deeply what Nick had gone through, and I think it forced him to see things that I had experienced during this process,” Rob said.
