After his emotional update about his cancer, King Charles reportedly wants to spend more time with his grandchildren, Archie, 6, and Lilibet, 4. However, in order to do so, he might give Prince Harry an ultimatum.
A source told Radar Online that King Charles isn’t happy about the growing distance between him and his grandchildren and is issuing a “brutal Meghan Markle ultimatum.” “This is something that affects him far more than he shows. These are his grandchildren, his own family, and he genuinely wants to spend time with them while he still can,” the insider said. “Charles is aware he can’t wait indefinitely to build a connection. He takes pride in William and Kate’s children, but it pains him that Archie and Lilibet aren’t part of his everyday life.”
However, another source claimed that the main obstacle to getting to his grandkids was Meghan Markle. “Charles recognises that Meghan has her reasons for hesitating to bring the children to the U.K. and he isn’t dismissive, but he also believes his estrangement from his grandkids has dragged on too long,” another source said. “If Meghan truly wanted a family reunion, it would have happened by now. Charles isn’t in constant contact with Harry, but they do keep in touch, and he has been urging Harry to be more assertive and encourage Meghan to make it possible.”
A source also emphasized that Archie and Lilibet could be disconnected from their UK heritage if they stay away long enough. “As a traditionalist, he believes it’s wrong that they don’t know their family history or the country that is part of their identity,” the source said.
Rest assured, Charles is understanding. “Despite everything, Charles has always had affection for Meghan,” a source said. “He knows the challenges she’s endured, including her father’s serious health problems, and still believes she has a good heart. The new report comes after it’s said that Harry and Meghan are ‘unlikely’ to heal their damaged relationships with their fathers. The Times reported that a source said that Harry and Charles are moving in the right direction and claimed the pair do speak, but another said this is laughable. Meghan Markle’s father was hospitalized after experiencing a blood clot and had his leg amputated on Dec. 5. She sent her estranged father a letter after the surgery.
