One of Harry and Meghan’s longtime Archewell Foundation staffers announced he was stepping down from their business. James Holt announced he was leaving the company in a statement to People.

The statement read: “From my first project with Prince Harry eight years ago to improve mental health support for soldiers in the British military, to our recent work helping injured children in Gaza, he has consistently challenged me to think bigger about how we can make a difference. From the moment I met Meghan, I recognized a kindred spirit — someone who finds joy even in difficult moments and connects authentically with people regardless of circumstance.”

“Above everything else, the work we’ve done together to support families affected by online harm will remain the most meaningful of my professional life. These families are extraordinary, and they inspire me every day,” he continued.

Holt cited his reason for leaving was to return to his family in London. “When I pass the baton to the team leading Archewell Philanthropies in the coming months, I’ll do so with immense pride and optimism for what lies ahead,” he said. “I’ll miss my colleagues deeply, and I’m grateful to Harry and Meghan for everything they’ve done — for me, and for the countless people we’ve worked to support.”

The couple praised Holt as a helpful asset to their team. “His enthusiasm and talent in overseeing our philanthropic endeavours have been extraordinary. As James moves his young family back to the UK, we are proud that he will continue to guide various humanitarian trips for us overseas through Archewell Philanthropies.”

Holt’s departure comes days after chief communications officer Meredith Maines announced she was leaving the company, with Page Six reporting the Kardashian drama was the “final straw” for her. Like Holt, Maines will be staying until the beginning of 2026 for transition.

However, some sources told the gossip site that the multiple departures means that there’s trouble within the company “They’ve essentially shuttered Archewell,” a source told Page Six. Senior staffers, Genevieve Roth, Christine Schirmer and Ashley Hansen also left Archewell Philanthopies. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex announced that they would be rebranding Archewell Foundation to Archewell Foundations just last week.

Some staffers have been put on a “consultant” basis, such as Archewell VP Shauna Nep. “Every time someone leaves Harry and Meghan say they are staying on in some capacity,” said another source, “But they are never heard from again.”
