Anne Reportedly Trying to Stop ‘Mad’ Charles From Reconciling With Meghan Amid Suspicion She’s ‘Shamelessly Taking Advantage’ of the Sick King

Reconciliations are reportedly in order lately. After Prince Harry met with his father in September 2025, there have been multiple reports that there could be follow-up meetings, perhaps including Meghan Markle or Harry and Meghan‘s kids. There have even been reports that Prince William and Prince Harry could meet. These meetings have either not materialized or have not become public, but the rumors persist. And now, there are reports that one royal is working to make sure one particular reconciliation doesn’t happen.
According to the Examiner, Princess Anne is on Prince William and Queen Camilla’s side on the Prince Harry and Meghan Markle battlefront and is trying to block the Sussexes’ possible return.

“Anne doesn’t tend to interfere or get involved with family politics all that often,” an insider said. “so when she does speak up and offer her opinion, it counts for a lot.”
The Princess Royal hasn’t always seen eye to eye with her nephew, Prince William, but in this, she reportedly agrees with him. “[Anne] says it’s madness that Charles would countenance any type of reconciliation or forgiveness,” the insider added, “let alone allow this upstart anywhere near them,” the outlet said, referring to Markle.
Examiner previously reported that William has urged his father to cut ties with Harry and Meghan, with sources claiming that the king’s oldest son feels the Sussexes are “shamelessly taking advantage” of Charles. And apparently, Princess Anne agrees.
“If Meghan does decide to come back to the U.K. and finds herself in the same room with [Anne or Camilla], she’ll get extremely short shrift,” the source said, “which is just about the most fearsome combination imaginable!”
This comes after recent reports that the king wants a relationship with his grandchildren. A source told Radar Online, “Charles is aware he can’t wait indefinitely to build a connection. He takes pride in William and Kate’s children, but it pains him that Archie and Lilibet aren’t part of his everyday life.”
And about Markle, the source said Charles isn’t unsympathetic, but that he believes both sides need to find common ground. “Charles recognises that Meghan has her reasons for hesitating to bring the children to the U.K. and he isn’t dismissive, but he also believes his estrangement from his grandkids has dragged on too long.”
“If Meghan truly wanted a family reunion, it would have happened by now. Charles isn’t in constant contact with Harry, but they do keep in touch, and he has been urging Harry to be more assertive and encourage Meghan to make it possible,” the source said.
“Despite everything, Charles has always had affection for Meghan,” the source also emphasized. “He knows the challenges she’s endured, including her father’s serious health problems, and still believes she has a good heart. He wants Harry, and by extension Meghan, to recognise that empathy and basic decency should still matter.”
Now, it seems perhaps the rest of the royal family isn’t as on board with this reconciliation as the king seems to be. What will happen in 2026? We will just have to wait and see.
