The relationships between the members of the British royal family are always in the news. There’s the fact that no one gets along with Andrew after his recent scandals. There’s the feud with Harry, which has apparently been somewhat patched up from Charles’ side, but seems to still continue from William’s side. And then there’s Queen Camilla and Kate Middleton.

Reports that the two don’t really get along have been around for a while. And now, it’s reportedly gotten to the point where Queen Camilla has started to worry about what will happen to her when Kate is inevitably queen. According to Globe, insiders have warned Camilla it’s best to fall in line.

“Camilla can gripe all she wants, but there’s no changing the reality that Kate will be queen before too long,” one source said. “When that happens, Camilla will effectively be at Kate’s mercy in terms of her perks and influence within the Firm.”

“It will be hard for her to swallow her pride and accept Kate’s authority, but that’s precisely what she’ll need to do — especially with preparations already in full swing for the Waleses to enforce their changes to the monarchy even before assuming the throne,” the source also added.

“There’s no doubt Camilla is panicked about where she’ll stand in the new scheme of things, but instead of falling into line and respecting Kate, she’s chosen to be extremely petty and territorial.”

Reports about the issues between the two have been plentiful over the past few months, with the latest having to do with Middleton wearing Queen Victoria’s Oriental Circlet tiara at a recent state banquet, per the Daily Mail.

“By all accounts, Camilla was hopping mad that Kate wore the rarely seen tiara. She called it another blatant attempt by Kate to make her and her husband, King Charles III, look like also-rans,” a royal source said.

The feud rumors really picked up traction after the state visit from US President Donald Trump. “The tension was impossible to ignore,” an insider told Closer. “Every gesture and every colour choice felt like a power move. It was Kate who drew the attention, and that didn’t go down well with Camilla. From the moment Kate arrived, she proved herself to be the real power player.”

And there was one particular moment that made people do a double-take. When the President and first lady first arrived, after Middleton escorted first lady Melania Trump to greet Camilla, Camilla seemed to dismiss her. “It was subtle, but Kate felt sidelined,” the source explained. “She’s worked hard to position herself as the monarchy’s future, and being asked to literally move aside was humiliating. She won’t have it going forward.”

“She completely outshone Camilla and everyone noticed it. There were moans and groans behind the scenes at how well Kate was doing, because everyone knew it would go down like a lead balloon at the debrief afterwards. Kate showed who the real star of the show is, and it was impossible not to notice the contrast.”
