New year, same drama for the British royal family. The former Prince Andrew matter continues to be something the royals are dealing with, especially since he has yet to vacate Royal Lodge. Then there’s the fact that William and Harry are reportedly still not speaking. But what about Queen Camilla and Kate Middleton?

Reportedly, things are not good. RadarOnline is reporting that the two can at this point barely tolerate being in the same room at this point. And reports indicate things took a turn for the worse during US President Donald Trump and Melania Trump’s state visit, with insiders saying it was a turning point in their “increasingly bitter feud.”

Plus, there’s the Andrew matter. “The situation with the Yorks has drained everyone involved, and Kate is no exception,” the source also said, adding that the feud has now escalated to “nuclear” levels.

“She has stood firmly behind William through months of fraught talks and hard choices, and it has weighed heavily on her, and left her in no mood to deal with Camilla. But things have reached such a height, the pair of them can barely bear to stay in the same room as one another.”

Reportedly, Queen Camilla has started to worry about what will happen to her when Kate is inevitably queen, particularly considering that she feels she’s being disrespected already. One example put forward was Andrew’s removal from Royal Lodge, which is close to Kate and William’s new home.

“In Camilla’s eyes, it comes across as a grab for control,” an insider said. “She believes they forced the issue and effectively pushed her out of the process.”

This is not true in Kate’s eyes. “She sees the accusations as unjustified and unwarranted. There was no desire to undermine Charles or Camilla at any point – her priority has always been safeguarding the monarchy and her children.”

But it has left things between the two feeling tense. “Whenever they share the same space, the tension is palpable. The atmosphere becomes strained, and those around them can sense the unease immediately.”

And according to Globe, things are not expected to get better. “Camilla can gripe all she wants, but there’s no changing the reality that Kate will be queen before too long,” one source said. “When that happens, Camilla will effectively be at Kate’s mercy in terms of her perks and influence within the Firm.”

“It will be hard for her to swallow her pride and accept Kate’s authority, but that’s precisely what she’ll need to do — especially with preparations already in full swing for the Waleses to enforce their changes to the monarchy even before assuming the throne,” the source also added.

“There’s no doubt Camilla is panicked about where she’ll stand in the new scheme of things, but instead of falling into line and respecting Kate, she’s chosen to be extremely petty and territorial.”

Doesn’t bode well for Queen Camilla, particularly considering that Kate Middleton will indeed be queen sooner or later.
