Ever since his titles were stripped away, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor has been facing an increasing amount of pressure to move out of his longtime residence at Royal Lodge. Now that King Charles hit his brother with an eviction notice, the former Duke of York’s next move could be out of the country.

Royal biographer Robert Jobson talked to People about how Charles’ recent meeting with the King of Bahrain could spark a potential move for Andrew to that country. “The King saw the King of Bahrain the other day. One never knows — it could be a place where Andrew gets the recognition of being the second son of Queen Elizabeth, rather than this,” the biographer said, of the former Duke’s soiled reputation.

The country is known to welcome other disgraced royals, such as King Juan Carlos I of Spain, who moved to Bahrain after financial scandals. “Other disgraced people have gone to the Middle East,” Jobson argued. “Andrew did a lot of business in Bahrain, and he’s still relatively young.”

Andrew Lownie, author of Entitled, also agreed that the Middle East could be a haven for the former Prince. “He doesn’t like the sound of being on the Sandringham estate, I think he wants to go somewhere where he can just get away from everything,” Lownie said.

While multiple reports indicate that Andrew is unwilling to move out of his longtime residence, Charles could potentially pressure him more by “confiscating” something his brother holds dear. A new report in the Express says, “King Charles has one option left to get Andrew out of Royal Lodge, and it might make him cry.”

That option is reportedly keeping his beloved teddy bears away. “Andrew is somewhat obsessed with teddy bears,” says a report from The Express UK, suggesting the King could arrange for someone “to pack up” his collection to coax him out. The outlet reports this could be seen as a threat, forcing Andrew to “quit Royal Lodge by the start of January [2026].” The outlet even alleged that holding the stuffed animals hostage would “be a Christmas present to the nation.”

There are also reports that the King will remove some royal “treasures” from Royal Lodge as a result of his brother’s reluctance. Royal expert Robert Hardman previously told the Daily Mail’s Palace Confidential, “The Royal Collection, which owns quite a lot of the treasures inside there, may say, ‘Well we can’t be confident that this place is safe anymore,’ and they’ll start taking the paintings and the some of the furniture away.”

However, the disgraced Prince still treasures his stuffed toy collection the most. “It’s even been recently reported that he’s currently so lonely he’s taken to chatting to the plush toys as if they were close friends,” the outlet said.

The Daily Mail reported that the deadline for Andrew to move lands right before Easter Sunday in April 2025. He will reportedly move to the smaller Sandringham estate in Norfolk. It’s believed that the deadline was marked in place so that the royals don’t have an awkward run-in with him, as they usually celebrate the holiday at Windsor, where the Royal Lodge is.
