There is a lot going on with the British royal family at seemingly all times. There’s the scandal surrounding the former Prince Andrew, who was stripped of his titles and ordered to vacate Royal Lodge by his brother, King Charles. Then there’s Prince Harry’s fractured relationship with the rest of his family. But what about the marriages? How are Prince William and Kate Middleton doing?

It was a question on a lot of people’s minds after the Princess of Wales made an unannounced appearance at Charing Cross Hospital in west London, joining Prince William. Why, you ask? Well, because despite the fact that Middleton was there with her husband and she was wearing her wedding ring, she was not wearing her engagement ring, which she also customarily wears.

She has skipped wearing multiple stacked rings, as she’s been doing lately, during some of her previous hospital visits, so this might just be that. But people noticed it anyway.

This comes after recent reports indicate that the couple’s marriage is better than ever after Kate’s cancer battle. The Princess of Wales revealed in March 2024 that she had been diagnosed with cancer and was undergoing preventative chemotherapy. She revealed she was cancer-free in September 2024 and confirmed in January 2025 that her cancer was in remission.

Royal Ian Pelham Turner told Fox News Digital that the couple’s relationship seems to be stronger these days, after years of speculation about their marriage being on the rocks. “There were ongoing rumors at one time that the marriage between William and Kate may not have been as blissful as publicly portrayed,” he said. But there’s nothing like an illness to put life into perspective.

“William has been known for his outbursts and Kate has found ways of calming the situation down but personally, I feel after the cancer diagnosis and the threat of losing her, the closeness was rekindled,” Turner said.

“And that is why decisions were made such as their quieter living accommodation rather than a palace to try and lead a normal family life have become their focus,” he added.

The couple and their three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis, recently relocated to their new home at Forest Lodge, according to The Telegraph. The family had been living at Adelaide Cottage since 2022, which meant the place had seen them through some of their worst times.

“Adelaide Cottage was a place of pain, suffering and sadness. After such rough times, it’s perfectly understandable they would want a new place,” royal biographer Sally Bedell Smith told People magazine in December.

Royal expert Hilary Fordwich also told Fox News Digital the two are doing well. “Adversity either destroys a marriage or brings couples closer after shared adversity. Certainly, their marriage has resulted in the latter not the former,” she said. “They never stoop down to ghastly gossip, which is most admirable.”

Missing engagement ring or not, this seems like a couple who are right now on the same page about everything. Probably a good thing considering the royal family has enough problems outside of possible marriage issues between them.
