There have been many reported reasons for the problems between Prince Harry and the rest of the British royal family. But one that has recently been reported more, and that doesn’t make much sense, is money. Because yes, the royals have plenty of that. But Harry isn’t exactly hurting in the money department. And yet this narrative continues to be pushed.

A new book by British royals expert Robert Jobson, titled The Windsor Legacy claims that after Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s departure from the British royal family, the Queen requested Charles handle all correspondence with Harry. And as their relationship began to sour, the book claims Harry “swore at him and demanded funds.”

“I’m not a bank,” the King reportedly told friends at the time.

Harry’s reaction? A source close to him told Page Six that he’s “not a big fan of fiction,” referring to Jobson’s book.

Prince Harry and his father met in person in September of 2025, their first meeting since early 2024, and though there have been no reports of further meetings, the narrative about their relationship right now is that it’s on the mend.

But the same can’t be said of Harry’s brother, Prince William. RadarOnline.com is reporting that the real reason William is upset at Harry is that he’s still benefiting from being part of the royal family despite not being a working royal. Sources told the outlet William wants Harry to face “financial consequences” for stepping away from his royal obligations.

“William is livid that Harry continues to profit from the royal family, both now and in the future, despite having walked away and publicly criticized them,” an insider said. “He believes that loyalty and duty must carry weight, otherwise the entire system begins to crumble.”

The source also said, “This has become a definitive boundary for William. He has told those close to him that if limits aren’t set now, they never will be, and he intends to enact some heavy ones when he takes the throne. From William’s perspective, Harry needs to face the financial repercussions of leaving royal duties behind.”

For William, that includes trying to block any other inheritance coming Harry’s way, after the inheritance Harry got from Princess Diana reportedly left the heir to the throne “furious.” Prince Harry inherited roughly $12.8million from his late mother, and in September 2024, when he turned 40, he inherited around $10.3million from a trust fund established by his great-grandmother, the late Queen Mother.

“He believes Harry has been critical, unhelpful, and damaging to the Royal Family,” a source said. “William is certain the only real impact Harry will experience is financial, and he’s determined to make that happen.” And reports indicate that, even though William doesn’t make all the decisions yet, he’s willing to make some hard ones when he’s King.

“While he may struggle to block any inheritance from Diana’s side, he believes he can influence Charles and other family members.”

Funny, how money can become a problem in every family, even the ones that have a lot of it.
