Exes Miley Cyrus and Patrick Schwarzenegger almost had a run-in at the 2026 Golden Globes more than a decade after their public breakup.
Cyrus and Schwarzenegger both attended and walked the red carpet just minutes from each other at the 83rd annual Golden Globe Awards, which was hosted at the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, California, on January 11, 2026. Cyrus was nominated at the awards show in the “Best Original Song” category for her song “Dream as One” from Avatar: Fire and Ash. Schwarzenegger, for his part, attended as part of the cast of The White Lotus Season 3, which earned the most nominations of any TV series with six nominations, including Best Television Series — Drama.

Cyrus and Schwarzenegger dated from around November 2014 to April 2015. Their split came a month after Schwarzenegger found himself at the center of an alleged cheating scandal after he was seen with another woman’s arms around his neck. Other footage showed him taking body shots off her. Schwarzenegger denied the allegations on Twitter at the time. “Omg. It’s one of my best friends’ girlfriend. Would NEVER do anything against my GF…. Girls have guy friends and guys have friends that are girls,” he wrote.

A source, however, told Us Weekly in April 2015 that Cyrus and Schwarzenegger split due to the scandal. “The scandal did its damage,” the insider said. “They both saw sides of each other they weren’t pleased with but they were trying to make it work.”
A decade later, Cyrus and Schwarzenegger crossed paths at the 2025 Met Gala, where Cyrus seemingly walked past Schwarzenegger without acknowledging him. Schwarzenegger’s dad, Arnold Schwarzenegger, reflected on the relationship in an interview on Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen in June 2025. “The best [thing] was that she’s a wonderful, wonderful girl and human being. Very, very talented,” he said of Cyrus. “She came up to Sun Valley when we were skiing up there and she was just such a wonderful houseguest and everything like that.” He continued, “We just all loved her. She was just a really good, good person and fun to hang out with.”

While Arnold expressed his disappointment that his son’s relationship didn’t work out, he did acknowledge his excitement for his new relationship to his fiance, Abby Champion, whom Patrick got engaged to in December 2023 after eight years together. “I’m sorry it didn’t work out. But Patrick, in the meantime, found another girl that he got engaged with and he’s getting married to in September,” he said.
Patrick’s mom, Maria Shriver, also made a rare comment about her son’s relationship while cohosting on Today With Jenna & Friends that same month. “Did you ever do that with any of your kids’ exes? Keep in touch with them?” Bush Hager asked Shriver who responded, “No, no, I’m trying to think, no.”
Bush Hager then asked, “No Miley Cyrus?” to which Shriver laughe, responding, “I would be very happy to see Miley. I liked Miley. I’d be happy to see her. But I did not stay texting [her], no I didn’t.”
The Golden Globes are available to stream on Paramount+.
