There’s a new Melania Trump documentary coming, and the film has been widely seen as a way to understand the dynamics of the Trump family up close. But it seems like one particular member of the family won’t be making an appearance in the new documentary, reigniting questions about what that relationship is like.

Ivanka Trump, Donald Trump’s eldest daughter, reportedly does not appear in the documentary at all, despite the running time reportedly being 1 hour and 44 minutes. The documentary is set to release in theaters on January 30, after premiering at the controversially renamed Trump-Kennedy Center on January 29.

Rob Shuter’s Nice But Naughty Substack reported that Ivanka Trump hasn’t even been invited to the January 29 premiere. “Melania wants this night all to herself,” one source said. “When the spotlight’s this dim, no one’s sharing it.”

The film is directed by Brett Ratner and follows the first lady through the first weeks of 2025. “It’s Melania, front and center, no interruptions,” another source said. “She’s drawing a line. Ivanka knows her place.”

Reportedly, Ivanka wasn’t all that pleased about the snub. “Of course it hurts, but I’m not surprised,” she told friends.

Ivanka Trump has kept a very low profile during her father’s second administration, and perhaps some of it can be explained by her reportedly frosty relationship with the first lady. One insider said, “There’s zero love lost,” adding about the fact that Ivanka is absent from the documentary, “Ivanka’s absence is intentional. This is Melania’s world, and she wanted it that way.”

Melania Trump was reportedly in control of the film’s production, with Fox News Digital reporting she had a say on everything from the creative process and the post-production marketing. “Melania and Ivanka do not get along — not at all,” the source said. “There’s real tension, and Melania made it clear she didn’t want Ivanka anywhere near this film.”

Rumors of tension between the first lady and Donald Trump’s oldest daughter have been swirling since Melania reportedly decided Ivanka, Donald Trump Jr., and Eric shouldn’t accompany her and Trump to the UK for a state visit last year, so the visit didn’t “look like a family takeover.” Of note is the fact that the President’s other daughter, Tiffany Trump, and her husband, Michael Boulos, were invited.

Someone else who doesn’t have much of a presence in the documentary? Barron Trump, Melania’s only son with the President. But his absence seems to be due to a completely different reason than Ivanka’s, namely, a desire from his mother to protect his privacy. The younger Trump reportedly doesn’t enjoy being the center of attention.

According to one report, “He shows up for just a few fleeting moments [in the movie]. Melania is fiercely protective of him — she won’t let him speak freely or be put in any even slightly awkward situation.”

“Every single scene with Barron had to be approved by her,” another source added. “He exists in public on her terms.”

It seems like the new documentary, titled “Melania,” will indeed be all about Melania Trump and not about the family she married into.
