The relationship between the Trump family and the Kennedy family, outside of RFK Jr., who is part of the administration, has not exactly been great. In fact, the Kennedys don’t even have a good relationship with RFK Jr. himself, and part of that can be tied to his role in the Trump administration. And now, there’s a new wrinkle in this relationship, thanks to first lady Melania Trump.
Melania is set to premiere her new documentary, Melania, at the controversially renamed Trump-Kennedy Center on January 29. The film will then be released in theaters a day after, on January 30. Both Melania and US President Trump are expected to attend the premiere, though there has been some chatter around Ivanka Trump, who was reportedly not invited to the event.

“History is set in motion during the 20 days of my life prior to the U.S. Presidential Inauguration,” Melania told Fox News Digital about the documentary. “For the first time, global audiences are invited into theaters to witness this pivotal chapter unfold — a private, unfiltered look as I navigate family, business, and philanthropy on my remarkable journey to becoming first lady of the United States of America,” she explained.
The movie is reportedly 1 hour and 44 minutes long and was directed by Brett Ratner. Melania Trump doesn’t just star in it, but also serves as a producer.
What does this have to do with the Kennedys? Well, the premiere is taking place in what was for years called the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, which has now been renamed “Trump-Kennedy Center.” And the Kennedy family had some choice words about that name change.
JFK’s grandson, Jack Schlossberg, said via X about the change, “Microphones were muted and the board meeting and vote NOT unanimous.” The 32-year-old is running for Congress. He added, “Trump explicitly motivated to act by JACK FOR NEW YORK. Our campaign represents everything Trump can’t stand or defeat.”
“President Trump and his administration have spent the past year repressing free expression, targeting artists, journalists, and comedians, and erasing the history of Americans whose contributions made our nation better and more just,” Kerry Kennedy, the daughter of former Attorney General Robert F. Kennedy, and sister of Health and Human Services Secretary RFK Jr. said in a statement shared via X.
“President Kennedy proudly stood for justice, peace, equality, dignity, diversity, and compassion for those who suffer,” she added. “President Trump stands in opposition to these values, and his name should not be placed alongside President Kennedy’s.”
As for RFK Jr.? He’s avoided answering the question when asked directly, but he has remained a big supporter of President Trump throughout, so it’s hard to believe he would say something in public, even if this was something he didn’t agree with.
For now, all we know is that Melania Trump is going ahead with her premiere at the Trump-Kennedy Center, and it is unlikely we will see any member of the Kennedy family, outside of perhaps RFK Jr., in attendance.
