There have been rumors about the marriage of US President Donald Trump and Melania Trump for a long time before they first set foot in the White House. In many ways, it’s normal for celebrity couples. The Obamas go through it quite a lot. Meghan and Harry are often faced with divorce rumors. But the rumors surrounding Donald and Melania Trump aren’t even divorce rumors sometimes, just rumors that they don’t actually get along—even if they’re staying together.
But the President had nothing but good things to say about his wife’s upcoming documentary, titled Melania. He told reporters on board Air Force One on Sunday, Jan. 11, that he was impressed.

“I’ve seen pieces of it, it’s incredible,” he said. “I think it’s going to do very– you know, she did a book and the book was a big number one bestseller, and this is a movie, and it seems to be captivating a lot of people’s attention.”
The documentary will have a premiere night on January 29th at the recently renamed Trump-Kennedy Center, and is set for theatrical release on January 30. According to Amazon MGM Studios, the film gives “unprecedented access to the 20 days leading up to the 2025 presidential inauguration — through the eyes of the first lady-elect herself,” with “exclusive footage of critical meetings, private conversations, and never-before-seen environments.”
In the trailer for the documentary, the first lady can be seen preparing for meetings alongside her son, Barron. The film was directed by Brett Ratner, who was accused by six women, including actress Olivia Munn, of sexual misconduct. Ratner was also featured in the Epstein files.
This comes after People reported that the President and the first lady don’t spend much time together. “There is little interaction between them, just what is expected,” the source said. ”Then they go back to doing their own thing.”
Both were seen ringing in the new year together at Mar-a-Lago recently, though even while keeping up appearances, it seems like they were on different wavelengths. “Melania was happy and enjoying the night while the president looked bored and tired, but was nice to the guests and wishing them well,” a source told People.
A White House spokesman responded to the claims, saying, “President Trump and the entire administration work 24/7 for the American people to deliver on the promise to Make America Great Again. The Trump Family is the most successful family of all time.”
The outlet had previously reported that Donald and Melania Trump both “have quarters in the White House,” but that Melania Trump “leads her own life and joins him when appropriate.” It’s hard to tell what that last line means, but it probably means the only times they see each other is when the public is seeing them.
Another quote seems to basically confirm the notion that, even when at Mar-a-Lago, the two are far from a happy couple, with reports indicating Melania “keeps to herself” and only joins Trump for dinner “on occasion.”
But at least Trump likes Melania’s new documentary. There’s that.
