Ever since Mackenzie Scott divorced Jeff Bezos, she has made philanthropy the thing she is most known for. Bezos went on to marry journalist Lauren Sánchez in a lavish wedding in Venice. Meanwhile, Scott seems to be trying to fulfill her promise to give away her entire fortune before her death. And though she still has a considerable amount to her name, we can see the effort.

The latest donation from Scott, to the tune of $45 million, was given to The Trevor Project, an organization that focuses on suicide prevention efforts for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and questioning youth. The organization is best known for its hotline. The gift is the largest in the organization’s history, and it comes after they lost a significant amount of federal funding.

“I literally could not believe it and it took some time. I actually gasped,” Jaymes Black, CEO of The Trevor Project said.

Last year, Scott gave $7.1 billion to nonprofit groups. It is one of the largest single-year totals donated in history, and just adds to an already impressive tally. She previously donated $2.6 billion in 2024 and $2.1 billion in 2023. In total, she has donated $26.3 billion since 2019.

On an essay on her website, Scott explained about her 2025 donations, “This dollar total will likely be reported in the news, but any dollar amount is a vanishingly tiny fraction of the personal expressions of care being shared into communities this year.”

Scott also donated large amounts of money to historically Black colleges and universities. “There are many ways to influence how we move through the world, and where we land,” she said as she explained the reasoning behind her choices.

Right now, her net worth is reported to be around $35 billion. Her ex, Bezos, still owns around 9% of the company he founded in 1994, with his net worth being $230.2 billion. Ironically, though Scott has given away a considerable amount of money since her divorce, her net worth is pretty much the same as when the divorce went through. So she can more than afford to continue with the donations.

All of this comes after new reports that Bezos and his new wife, Lauren Sánchez, were partying it up for the new year, with Sánchez much more into it than Bezos. “Lauren’s energy is non-stop,” a source told Rob Shuter. “She was jumping, dancing, laughing — and Jeff was hanging on for dear life. He looked wiped.”

“It was like a whirlwind — Jeff just followed along,” the journalist also reported. “He’s happy, but he’s clearly worn out trying to match her,” another source said.

The two are set to be the primary donors for the 2026 Met Gala, which will be “Costume Art” themed. “I think Lauren is going to be a wonderful asset to the museum and to the event,” Anna Wintour told CNN. “[I’m] very grateful for her incredible generosity, and she’s a great lover of costume and obviously of fashion, so we’re thrilled she’s part of the night.”

Very different vibes from Mackenzie Scott, that’s for sure.
