During President Donald Trump’s first Presidency, and the campaign preceding it, Barron Trump was too young to really be involved in any type of campaigning. The same didn’t exactly hold the second time, and now Barron, who is 19, is of an age where people expect to see him more. But has he always been a force behind the scenes? And what exactly has he done?

According to his mother, Melania Trump, he has. On Wednesday, January 28, the first lady appeared on Fox News’ roundtable show The Five to promote her upcoming documentary, Melania, and during the interview, she was asked about her son Barron and how he has changed from his father’s 2016 presidential campaign to now. And she revealed he had a big role in the latest campaign.

“He talks with his dad. He talks with me. He was very involved in the campaign. He gave him all of the ideas, whom he needs to talk to, including all of these YouTubers and podcasts. So, he was really a smart mind behind it,” Melania said.

The first lady also indicated she always knew her husband could become president. “Well, I always thought you know that one day he might go and run, and I always told him if you do it, you will win, because I knew how much people loved him. So, and here we are again.”

In another Fox News appearance, Melania also spoke about how she supports her husband. “I give him my advice, and I tell him what I think. Sometimes he listens, sometimes he doesn’t, but I am here to support him. I think it’s very important to have open communication,” she said.

The first lady opening up about her relationship with her husband, and about her son’s role in the latest campaign comes after a source told People in a report published on January 7 that the first lady of the United States “would go to the ends of the earth to protect” her son after reports that members of Mar-a-Lago were caught taking photos of Barron without his consent.

“Melania definitely protects her son against anyone taking videos or shots of him that would put him at a disadvantage or portray him in a bad way,” the insider said. “She would put her foot down if necessary but nothing stressful like that has happened.”

Rob Shuter had previously claimed on his Substack that Melania threatened to have Mar-a-Lago members’ memberships revoked if they were caught recording Barron. “Melania made it very clear that Barron’s privacy is non-negotiable,” a source told Shuter. “Anyone caught filming or taking pictures would face immediate consequences, including potential banning from the club.”

But People’s sources insisted nothing like that had happened, but that Melania was ready if it did. “Melania would go to the ends of the earth to protect Barron from any evil intentions from people,” the source said. “But nothing like this happened during the holidays.”
