With the new documentary that chronicles the days leading up to her being the first lady for her husband’s second term, Melania Trump‘s net worth reflects her career as a model and first lady.

Melania Trump married Donald Trump in 2005 after the two met at a party in 1998. “He wanted my number, but he was with a date, so of course I didn’t give it to him,” she revealed in a 2016 interview with Harper’s Bazaar. “I said, ‘I am not giving you my number; you give me yours, and I will call you.’ I wanted to see what kind of number he would give me — if it was a business number, ‘What is this? I’m not doing business with you.’”

Fast forward two decades, and she has entered the White House as first lady during two different terms.

What is Melania Trump’s net worth?

Melania Trump’s individual net worth is reportedly $20 million, according to Forbes. Compared to her husband, Donald Trump, he has a net worth of $6.6 billion, according to the finance publication. Their son, Barron Trump, has a net worth squeezed in between them, at a reported $150 million. Her net worth is comprised of book deals, speeches, and her documentary. She also launched a memecoin $MELANIA, which has a current market cap of less than $200 million.

In a Town and Country report in 2018, after rumors circulated about a divorce, lawyers estimated that Melania would get $50 million in a settlement if there wasn’t a prenup. “In this situation, if she has $50 million, she can afford to buy something. But $50 million, while it’s definitely a lot of money, in New York City, for what she’s used to, she wouldn’t be able to replicate what she has now. He probably had a good sense of what kind of lifestyle they’d be living, so I would imagine the payout would be fairly generous.”

Michael Wolff told the Daily Beast Podcast in May of 2025 insight about their marriage. Wolff claimed the two were effectively “separated” and “live separate lives.”

According to People, the two keep their own separate schedules, but they do have one thing in common: interior design. “Donald has his own vision for his homes and clubs, and over the years has designed and selected a lot of the furnishings and finishings himself at Mar-a-Lago and the golf clubs,” a source told the outlet. “He and Melania have that in common. They both love interior design.”

Does Melania Trump have a salary as first lady?

Unlike the President of the United States (who gets a $400,000 per year, plus other allowances), the first lady receives nothing. Former President Ronald Reagan confirmed that the spouse of the president is unpaid in an interview in 1982. “You know, with the first lady the government gets an employee free; they have her just about as busy as they have me,” he said at the time.

According to Metro, former President Barack Obama has also confirmed that the FLOTUS is not paid. “Michelle would point out first ladies get paid nothing. So there’s clearly not equal pay in the White House when it comes to her and me,” he’s said.

That said, while the FLOTUS doesn’t receive a salary, she still gets a lot of perks as a member of the First Couple. Along with the president’s $400,000 salary, the POTUS also receives a $100,000 travel account, $19,000 for entertainment and a $50,000 expense allowance.

How much did Melania make from her documentary?

Amazon MGM Studios bought the rights to the documentary Melania for $40 million, which was $16 million more than what Disney was offering. According to the Wall Street Journal, Melania pocketed $27 million of the licensing fees for herself. It’s also reported that the film had a $35 million budget for marketing.

In a Truth Social post, Donald Trump claimed that theatrical showings of the documentary were “selling out.” However, some sites have reported that tickets are not selling out. National Research Group projected a $5 million opening weekend, per Puck, while trade publication Boxoffice Pro projected it to earn between $1 million and $2 million.
