Many names appear in the Epstein Files. A lot of big names. And none of them are doing anything good. Which is exactly why people have zeroed in on some names that seem surprising, in the grand scheme of things. Everyone expected to see President Trump and Prince Andrew, but Bill Gates was a little more of a shock to some.
Now, Gates is addressing his connection to Epstein. In an interview with 9 News Australia on Wednesday, Feb. 4, Gates spoke about Epstein and the new documents released by the DOJ.

“Apparently, Jeffrey wrote an email to himself. That email was never sent,” Gates told the outlet. “The email is false. I don’t know what his thinking was there. Was he trying to attack me in some way? Every minute I spent with him, I regret, and I apologize that I did that.”
In the files, there are allegations that Gates had relationships with multiple women, and also that he once contracted a sexually transmitted disease that he hid from his then-wife, Melinda French Gates.
According to Gates, he met Epstein in 2011 and “only went to dinners” with him until 2014. “The focus was always, he knew a lot of very rich people, and he was saying he could get them to give money to global health. In retrospect, that was a dead end,” he said. “I was foolish to spend time with him. I was one of many people who regret ever knowing him.”
Gates, however, vehemently denied ever visiting Epstein’s island. “I never went to the island, I never met any women,” he told 9 News Australia. “And so, the more that comes out, the more clear it’ll be that, although the time was a mistake, it had nothing to do with that kind of behavior.”
This isn’t the first time Gates has had to address the same allegations. In a statement to People, Gates previously said, “These claims are absolutely absurd and completely false,” and added, “The only thing these documents demonstrate is Epstein’s frustration that he did not have an ongoing relationship with Gates and the lengths he would go to entrap and defame.”
All of this comes after Gates’ ex-wife, Melinda, had recently spoken up about her ex-husband’s connections to Epstein and claimed that he needed to come forward and explain. “Whatever questions remain there of what I don’t — can’t even begin to know all of it — those questions are for those people and for even my ex-husband. They need to answer to those things, not me,” she told NPR, adding, “And, I am so happy to be away from all the muck that was there.”
Melinda Gates was very critical of Epstein as she spoke to NPR’s “Wild Card” podcast. “No girl should ever be put in the situation that they were put in by Epstein and whatever was going on with all of the various people around him. No girl,” French Gates said. “I mean, it’s just — it’s beyond heartbreaking, right? I remember being those ages those girls were. I remember my daughters being those ages, right?”
