If there’s one thing we know about US President Donald Trump is that he likes to be in the middle of everything, from what’s happening in international politics to what’s happening on entertainment. So, it’s no surprise that he would have something to say about the devastating news surrounding Savannah Guthrie’s missing mom.

President Trump reportedly called Savannah Guthrie and “assured the Guthrie family that every resource was available as needed,” according to NBC News. At the end of Trump’s interview for NBC News Special Report on Wednesday, Feb. 4, anchor Tom Llamas told viewers that Trump talked to Savannah Guthrie over the phone to offer “words of support for her and her family as they search for her mother.”

A White House official confirmed to People that “President Trump called and spoke with Savannah Guthrie today.” Trump himself said he was directing all federal law enforcement to be at the disposal of the family..

“I spoke with Savannah Guthrie, and let her know that I am directing ALL Federal Law Enforcement to be at the family’s, and Local Law Enforcement’s, complete disposal, IMMEDIATELY,” Trump said on social media Wednesday night. “We are deploying all resources to get her mother home safely.”

Nancy Guthrie went missing on Saturday, January 31, 2026, and was reported missing by her family the next day when she didn’t show up for church. Nancy and her late husband Charles shared three kids, including Savannah, Annie, and Camron.

“We have nothing else to go on but the belief that she is here,” Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos said in a new interview with NBC, which was aired live on the Today show on Wednesday, Feb. 4. “She’s present. She’s alive, and we want to save her.”

The White House had shared the news of Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance on its official Instagram page on Tuesday, Feb. 3.

“The search for Savannah Guthrie’s mother, Nancy Guthrie, is ongoing, and authorities are requesting assistance from the public,” the administration wrote on social media. “Anyone with information is urged to contact 911. Our prayers are with the Guthrie family as we hope for Nancy’s safe return home. 🙏.”

President Trump had revealed his feelings on the situation while talking to reporters at the Oval Office on Tuesday, Feb. 3. “I think it’s terrible,” Trump said then, adding: “I’m going to call her later on.”

“It’s a terrible thing,” he added again. “I always get along well with Savannah. Very unusual situation, but we’re going to find out.”

Despite his recollections, the truth is that Trump has been very critical of Guthrie in the past, as she has been of him. At a rally in 2020, he called her a “crazed lunatic” and claimed she was “screaming questions” at him when she moderated an NBC News town hall.

Guthrie confronted Trump about retweeting a conspiracy theory about Biden orchestrating to cover up the fake death of Osama Bin Laden. “You’re the president — you’re not like someone’s crazy uncle who can just retweet whatever!” Guthrie told him then.

Savannah Guthrie has been absent from the Today show since February 2, and released a statement about her mother’s disappearance: “On behalf of our family, I want to thank everyone for the thoughts, prayers, and messages of support. Right now, our focus remains on the safe return of our dear mom.”

And she’s got everyone’s support, including, apparently, President Trump.
