Robert and Bindi Irwin have always had a great relationship with the royal family. But now, things are getting way more complicated due to Prince William and Harry’s ongoing feud.
A source told Star magazine that Harry and Meghan are eyeing a closer relationship with the Irwin siblings. This is because Robert’s Dancing With the Stars win put his reputation “higher than ever,” with the insider adding, “people are lining up to be associated with them, and Meghan and Harry are at the top of that list.”
Harry and Meghan “would love to team up” with the siblings for their endeavors. “They’re making a big push to get some face time with them when they’re in town so they can properly connect and pitch some ideas.”
“They would never admit that their obsession with outdoing William and Kate is the real motivator but of course that’s what everyone’s saying,” the source told Star Magazine. “It’s pretty obvious William has really taken a shine to the whole family.”

William and Robert Irwin have a very public friendship ever since the conservationist was appointed as an ambassador for the heir’s Earthshot Prize. Prince William is “incredibly fond of the Irwins,” a palace insider revealed to Rob Shuter’s #ShuterScoop. “He sees Robert as carrying on his father Steve’s legacy, and that’s something William deeply respects.”
At the 2025 Steve Irwin Gala, William made a video to honor the late conservationist’s legacy. “Steve’s mission in life was to safeguard life on our planet, and tonight’s event is all about carrying forward that dedication to conservation and the natural world,” William said of the conservationist on Instagram. “We are approaching a defining moment, as temperatures rise, animals and plants face extinction, water resources diminish, and waste accumulates.”
“We couldn’t have asked for a more passionate and committed ambassador in Robert, and he’s not a bad dancer either,” he gushed about his friend. “That clearly runs in the family too.”
In an interview with People, Robert shared some insight about his relationship with the Prince of Wales. “I talk to him about animals, and like, he is on it. He knows exactly what’s going on. In most conversations I have with His Royal Highness, I learn something. I really do,” he admitted. “It’s this genuine sense of passion. I love that passion. Like that’s what I seek. I seek out people that feel like kindred spirits, you know? So it’s really awesome. Really is.”
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s goal puts the siblings in a “very tricky” position, says Star’s source.
“If they accept Harry and Meghan’s offer to team up, there’s no way it will go over well with William,” the source added. “They’ve become victims of their own popularity in a way because now they’re in the middle of this tug-of-war between the royal family. It’s very awkward for them.”
