After Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor’s arrest, all eyes are on his former wife, Sarah Ferguson.
Thames Valley Police announced they had arrested an unnamed man on Feb. 19, 2026. “As part of the investigation, we have today (19/2) arrested a man in his sixties from Norfolk on suspicion of misconduct in public office and are carrying out searches at addresses in Berkshire and Norfolk.”
“The man remains in police custody at this time,” the statement continued, adding that they will not be naming the arrested man.
The Thames Valley force said Mountbatten-Windsor was released Thursday evening, 11 hours after he was detained at his home in eastern England. He was photographed in a car leaving the station near his home on the royal Sandringham Estate.

With Andrew’s relationship with Jeffrey Epstein, Sarah Ferguson has also had a close friendship to the convicted sex offender. A top barrister told Page Six that Fergie could be called in to questioning. “The police may have a basis for questioning Sarah Ferguson [as] she may be a relevant witness in this case,” they said. “They may want to ask her some questions. While Sarah Ferguson would not have been in a public office at that time, I don’t know what she knows, and if she has disclosed anything (in emails consistent with her role as an ex-royal and Andrew’s ex-wife).”
Sarah Ferguson’s relationship with Epstein is heavily documented in the Epstein Files. In a January 2010 email, Fergie allegedly told him: “You are a legend. I really don’t have the words to describe, my love, gratitude for your generosity and kindness. Xx I am at your service. Just marry me.”
In a May 2010 email, she requested a job as his “House Assistant,” stating she “desperately” needed the money, and later described herself as “very traumatized and alone.
In 2009, she then asked for £20,000 to help with rent since her landlord threatened to go to the press.
At the news of his release, The Daily Mail reports that the “whereabouts of Andrew’s ex-wife and daughters remain unknown” at this time. Fergie has not been seen in public since September 25, 2025, when she was seen leaving the Royal Lodge.
King Charles made a statement regarding his younger brother’s arrest, saying he “learned with the deepest concern the news about Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and suspicion of misconduct in public office.”
“What now follows is the full, fair and proper process by which this issue is investigated in the appropriate manner and by the appropriate authorities. In this, as I have said before, they have our full and wholehearted support and co-operation. Let me state clearly: the law must take its course,” the king said, adding that he would not be commenting further amid the investigation into his brother, and that the rest of the royal family would “continue in our duty and service to you all.”
