The fallout of Prince Andrew’s arrest has hit everyone in the British royal family, with the King making a statement and both Charles and Camilla being questioned about it as they went on with their public engagements. But it’s the people closest to Andrew that will be more affected, and that includes his ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson, who features prominently in the Epstein files, and his two daughters, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie.

How are Beatrice and Eugenie reacting? According to People, “They’re trying to stay away from it. They have young children, and this is their grandfather — their focus is on protecting their own children from this.”

Beatrice married Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi in 2020. The two share two daughters, Sienna, 4, and Athena, 1. Mapelli Mozzi also has a 9-year-old son, Christopher Woolf, from a previous relationship. Eugenie, meanwhile, married Jack Brooksbank in 2018. They share two sons, August, 5, and Ernest, 2.

The sister are reportedly also reevaluating their relationship with their father, with a source saying “they’re also putting pieces of the puzzle together in real time and realizing they may have been used.”

“That has to feel like a complete betrayal. They’re heartbroken — but a dad is still your dad, and a mom is still your mom. Love for a parent isn’t a light switch. It’s an incredibly painful and introspective moment for them,” the source added.

The newest batch of Epstein files released includes several emails between Andrew, Fergie, and convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. Some of them mention, and even include pictures of Beatrice and Eugenie. There’s even one where Sarah Ferguson discusses plans for lunch with Epstein, with the email dated five days after Epstein was released from prison after serving 13 months for soliciting a minor for prostitution and soliciting prostitution.

Yet another email seems to include confirmation that the lunch took place. “I have never been more touched by a friends kindness than your compliment to me in front of my girls,” Ferguson wrote. “Thank you Jeffrey for being the brother I have always wished for.”

The Daily Mail reported that the sisters “have been left in turmoil over their father’s arrest, with one of the girls thought to be with their mother.” And recently, royal biographer Russell Myers told CNN that the family has always been close, but the recent revelations have left Beatrice and Eugenie “deeply distressed.”

He added that the two “have a degree of loyalty,” but “it is without question that their relationships with their parents have been left severely strained by their conduct.”

Andrew was arrested on February 19, the day of his 66th birthday, and was released from the Aylsham Police Station in Norfolk later in the day after 11 hours in custody. The Thames Valley Police issued an updated statement confirming a “man in his sixties from Norfolk,” had “been released under investigation.” The former prince was photographed in a car, looking shellshocked, as he was being driven back to Wood Farm in Sandringham, where he recently moved.
