The Epstein files have put a lot of people in the spotlight. One of those is, of course, the former Prince Andrew, who was recently arrested for misconduct in office and faces an investigation in the UK. Then there’s US President Donald Trump, whose name is mentioned numerous times in the files.

But what does Trump think about Andrew? Did the two know each other? Trump name-dropped Andrew while talking about Epstein’s island in a resurfaced interview from just before launching his first presidential campaign, as reported by RadarOnline.com.

In the 2015 interview, Trump said he believed the island was “really a cesspool.”

“There’s no question about it,” he said to a Bloomberg reporter at the time. “Just ask Prince Andrew. He’ll tell ya about it … The island was an absolute cesspool.”

The President did not elaborate on the comments at the time, but The Times has reported that flight logs confirm Andrew visited Epstein’s Little Saint James in the U.S. Virgin Islands at least one time. There’s no mention of how Trump acquired the knowledge about the island.

Andrew was arrested on February 19, the day of his 66th birthday, and was held for about 11 hours before being released from the Aylsham Police Station in Norfolk. The Thames Valley Police issued a statement confirming a “man in his sixties from Norfolk,” had “been released under investigation.” The former prince was photographed in a car, looking shocked, as he was being driven back to Wood Farm in Sandringham, where he recently moved.

Reports indicate King Charles was not given a heads-up about Andrew’s arrest before it happened. Following the arrest, he released a statement that said, “I have learned with the deepest concern the news about Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and suspicion of misconduct in public office. What now follows is the full, fair and proper process by which this issue is investigated in the appropriate manner and by the appropriate authorities.”

He added, “In this, as I have said before, they have our full and wholehearted support and co-operation. Let me state clearly: the law must take its course. As this process continues, it would not be right for me to comment further on this matter. Meanwhile, my family and I will continue in our duty and service to you all.”

Reports about the arrest indicated that it took Andrew absolutely by surprise, too. And according to Rob Shuter, he did not react well. “He was woken up by officers. He genuinely couldn’t process that this was happening to him,” one source told Shuter.

According to reports, there was certainly a sense that this couldn’t be happening to him. “He wasn’t upset. He was furious,” the insider said. “There was absolutely a ‘Do you know who I am?’ tone.”

“It was arrogance, not panic,” the source claimed. “He seemed more insulted than afraid.”

There has not yet been any specific announcement about what the police are investigating regarding Andrew, other than the initial announcement that he was arrested for misconduct in public office.
