The arrest of the former Prince Andrew has left a few things in the air. He had already been stripped of his titles and evicted from his home at Royal Lodge, but what does this mean for him going forward?

Andrew hasn’t been a working royal for a while, and he has moved to a property on his brother’s Sandringham estate, but is he still in the line of succession? What about his inheritance? Here’s everything we know about what this new development means for him and the royal family.

What Did Prince Andrew Inherit From Queen Elizabeth After Her Death?

There is surely more that hasn’t been reported, but one big thing the former Duke of York inherited from his mother is her corgis. That’s right, since Queen Elizabeth II’s death, Andrew has been in charge of her beloved corgis. And it’s a responsibility he hasn’t wanted to relinquish.

“He takes huge pride in looking after the dogs,” a source told RadarOnline.com. “Many royals feel it’s inappropriate, but Andrew insisted his mother made her wishes clear.”

And the dogs, Muick and Sandy, remained in his care even after he was stripped of his titles and had to vacate Royal Lodge.

“He often says the queen personally handed him the leashes,” a source said. “He sees it as a sign of her trust – and a reminder of how different things feel now.”

Queen Elizabeth owned more than 30 Pembroke Welsh Corgis and “dorgis” during her life.

Reportedly, Andrew was planning to spend his birthday with the Queen’s two corgis, as well as his own five dogs. RadarOnline.com reports his daughters and his ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson, were not planning to celebrate with him.

A friend told The Sun, “The plan was to spend a quiet and lonely 66th birthday at Wood Farm as no one was coming round to celebrate with him, not even Fergie or their two children Beatrice and Eugenie.”

“He was expecting to spend the day with seven dogs, instead he had 15 cops at his door.”

Andrew was indeed arrested on February 19, the day of his 66th birthday, and spent about 11 hours being questioned before he was released from the Aylsham Police Station in Norfolk. The Thames Valley Police put out a statement confirming a “man in his sixties from Norfolk,” had “been released under investigation.” Andrew was photographed in a car as he was leaving the police station and being driven back to Wood Farm in Sandringham, looking surprised.

After the arrest, the King released a statement that said, “I have learned with the deepest concern the news about Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and suspicion of misconduct in public office. What now follows is the full, fair and proper process by which this issue is investigated in the appropriate manner and by the appropriate authorities.”

He added, “In this, as I have said before, they have our full and wholehearted support and co-operation. Let me state clearly: the law must take its course. As this process continues, it would not be right for me to comment further on this matter. Meanwhile, my family and I will continue in our duty and service to you all.”
