Justin Trudeau’s Son Finally Reveals What He Really Thinks of Katy Perry After His Mom Hinted She Was ‘Triggered’ by Their ‘Public’ Romance
When your father is dating a huge pop star like Katy Perry, it’s something that affects your daily life. This is particularly true for former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s oldest kids, because they are teenagers now. And that means they understand what’s happening and how big a change it is.
Trudeau and his ex-wife Sophie Grégoire split in 2023 after 18 years of marriage. The former couple shares 3 kids, Xavier, 18, Ella-Grace, 16, and Hadrien, 11.

What do the kids think of Katy Perry? Well, we at least know what Trudeau’s oldest, Xavier, thinks. In an Instagram video posted on Saturday, Feb. 21, he joined content creator G Hobs to try the “Afters Meal,” a collaboration between McDonald’s and Drake’s OVO brand. And of course, during the conversation, he was asked if he’d met Perry.
“I have,” Xavier confirmed. “She’s cool, she’s nice,” he also said, adding that “we talked for hours, talking about my music. She gave me advice and next steps for me and stuff.”
This is in line with previous reports about Perry and Xavier. After the teen released a rap video that was widely panned, it was reported that Perry offered support.
“Katy told him point-blank that every artist gets dragged. She wanted him to know she understands exactly how it feels,” a source told Rob Shuter’s Shuterscoop. Another insider said, “[Perry] connected him with producers and told him to keep working. She wants him to take the criticism seriously, but not personally.”
“She’s there as support, not a manager. She listens to his demos, but she also tells him when something doesn’t work… He feels safer with her in his corner.”
All of this comes after Trudeau’s ex-wife and Xavier’s mother, Sophie Grégoire, appeared on the podcast “Arlene is Alone,” and discussed how she feels about her ex-husband dating Katy Perry. “You know, we’re human beings, and stuff affects us. Normal,” she explained. “How you react to stuff is your decision. So, I choose to try to listen to the music instead of the noise.”
Grégoire also said she’s “very aware that a lot of public stuff out there can be triggers.” But “what I do with it is my decision. The woman I want to become through this is my decision.”
She only confirmed during the podcast that her ex is very involved in the day-to-day of her children’s lives. “I’m definitely not a single mom,” Grégoire said. “I have a partnership with a father who has such deep love and availability to his children.” And one who seems to be introducing Katy to that dynamic, as well.
Recent reports about Perry and Trudeau have indicated that things are getting serious. The National Enquirer reported months ago that their respective kids had already met. The two are “crazy about each other,” an insider claimed, adding, “This isn’t a fling.”
“Katy’s daughter, Daisy, has spent time around Justin. And his three kids — Xavier, Ella-Grace, and Hadrien — have met Katy,” a source said. “It was warm. It was easy. The kids clicked instantly.”
