The British royal family reportedly hope ex-Prince Andrew will go to jail to “stop” the “humiliation” caused by his Jeffrey Epstein scandal once and for all.
A source told Rob Shuter’s “Naughty But Nice” Substack in a post on February 23, that the family, which includes King Charles, Prince William, and Kate Middleton, have privately discussed why Andrew going to prison could be best for the palace in the long term. “If Andrew walks, he’ll feel vindicated and untouchable,” the insider said. “That makes him more emboldened, more reckless, and far more dangerous to the institution.” The source continued, “Prison contains the chaos. It forces a hard stop. The family can regroup without constantly bracing for the next humiliation.”
The insider also explained that Andrew going to jail will save the family money, given that palace no longer needs to supply a home for him after he was forced to move out of Royal Lodge into Wood Farm Cottage at the king’s Sandringham Estate in Norfolk earlier this month. “No one wants to say it publicly,” the source said. “But Andrew will always embarrass them. He won’t change. Jail removes the oxygen — and the obligation to bankroll him.”
The source also claimed that Andrew going to jail will also give Charles the opportunity to “slim down” the crown like he always planned. “This gives the King cover to finish the slimming-down he’s always wanted,” the insiders said. “In crisis, reform suddenly becomes very easy to sell.”
The report comes after another source told Shuter’s “Naughty But Nice” Substack in February that Andrew was considering offering to remove himself from the royal line of succession to keep him out of jail. “He would sacrifice his place in a second if it keeps him out of a cell,” the insider said. “Jail is the one outcome he cannot control.”
The source also claimed that Andrew had other stipulations for him to renounce his spot in the line of succession, including guarantees that his daughters with Sarah Ferguson, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie, keep their place in the British royal family. “He wants security for life,” the insier said. “A permanent grace-and-favor home, his horses settled at the new property, and written guarantees that his daughters keep their royal titles.”
The insider continued, “He’s negotiating comfort, not consequences. It’s slippery to the end.”
