On “Paint by Numbers” on his latest album, Styles directly refers to his relationship with Wilde and the bond with her two children. “Holding the weight of the American children whose hearts you break/ Was it a tragedy when you told her / I’m not even 33,” he sings. During their nearly two-year relationship, Styles was 26 – 27 years old, while Wilde was 36 – 37 years old. In an interview with Vanity Fair, she talked about how those rumors were not true. “The complete horseshit idea that I left Jason for Harry is completely inaccurate,” she told the publication. “Our relationship was over long before I met Harry. Like any relationship that ends, it doesn’t end overnight. Unfortunately, Jason and I had a very bumpy road, and we officially dissolved the relationship towards the beginning of the pandemic. Once it became clear that cohabitating was no longer beneficial for the children, it became the responsible thing to not, because we could be better parents as friends who live in different houses.”
She added, “I don’t understand the need to create false narratives and drama around this kind of stuff. It’s like, haven’t the kids been through enough?”
For the promotion of Don’t Worry Darling at CinemaCon, Olivia Wilde was served custody papers on stage. In the court documents obtained by Us Weekly on August 10, 2022, Jason wrote, “I did not want service to take place at the home of Olivia’s current partner because Otis and Daisy might be present,” Sudeikis reportedly wrote, referring to Styles. “I did not want service to take place at the children’s school because parents might be present.” He then sincerely apologized to Olivia for ruining her talk. “I understand that the process server had only done her job; however, I deeply regret what happened. Olivia’s talk was an important event for Olivia, both professionally and personally, and I am very, very sorry that the incident marred her special moment.”
As for what their children thought about Styles when he was in a relationship with Wilde, a source told Life & Style that they were “crazy” about their mom’s boyfriend when he was around. The source divulged that the singer would spend as much time with them. “He’s a big kid at heart and spends hours playing and entertaining Olivia’s kids,” the source said. “He enjoys taking them to the park, playing hide and seek and making sandcastles on the beach.”
