Suspect Accused of Attempted Murder on Rihanna Identified After Shooting Multiple Shots into the Singer’s House While She Was at Home
Police have finally identified the suspect who allegedly fired shots into Rihanna’s home on Sunday, March 8. The woman, who was arrested very soon after, has been booked for attempted murder and is being held on a $10 million bail, according to US Weekly.
What exactly happened? According to the Los Angeles Times, the woman, identified as 35-year-old Ivanna Lisette Ortiz, reportedly fired several shots at the house where Rihanna resides from her vehicle, a white Tesla, from across the property’s gate. One round managed to penetrate the walls of the house. Bullet holes were also found in the gate and an RV that was parked outside the property.
LAPD radio dispatch said, “approximately 10 shots” were fired into the home. The suspect was described as someone with her hair “in braids,” wearing “a cream-colored blouse.” Other details given indicate the car was “dirty on the bottom.”
After that, she fled in her vehicle, with police following the car to a shopping center in Sherman Oaks, where she was arrested about 30 minutes after the 911 call. LAPD announced they’d found “an assault rifle and seven casings” in the car. NBC News gave more details, reporting on Sunday that the suspect was allegedly armed with “an AR-15-style rifle.”
LAPD’s “elite Robbery-Homicide Division” is reportedly investigating.
Reports indicate Rihanna was at home at the time of the shooting, though no injuries were reported. There has been no confirmation about whether her partner, rapper A$AP Rocky, or their three children, RZA, Riot, and Rocki, were also in the house at the time of the shooting.
Shortly after the news, TMZ published photos of the street where Rihanna’s home is located being blocked by yellow crime scene tape. Neither Rihanna nor Rocky has yet made a public statement about what happened.
Rihanna and A$AP Rocky have been together since 2020. The couple recently welcomed their third baby, a girl. Rihanna announced her pregnancy at the Met Gala in May 2025. She’d announced her previous pregnancy on the Super Bowl Halftime show stage. Her daughter was only born five months ago, so the singer has been mostly focused on motherhood in the past few months.
Rocky recently talked about their romance during a January appearance on The New York Times’ “Popcast” podcast. “A woman will change your whole life, especially if it’s a companion. Before I had my children, being with my girl took my blindfold off,” Rocky said at the time. “I got with a very special woman.”
He added, “I’m thankful she was put in my life at that time because I think anytime prior to that I don’t think I was ready for that. I don’t think she was either.”
The couple might not be done having kids, either. Rihanna told Interview magazine in 2024, when asked how many kids she was planning on having, “As many as god wants me to have.”
At the Smurfs premiere, Rocky pretty much agreed. “We’re going to be like the Wayans family, you know?” he told Entertainment Tonight, a reference to the family of 10. “I mean, love is beautiful, and it’s just spreading it.”
