The British monarchy has survived a lot of scandals and a lot of bad moments. And though they haven’t always been popular, they’ve maintained enough public favour to continue having an important role. Now, with Andrew’s arrest making a lot of people rethink the need for royals in the year 2026, what can King Charles do? And is his health good enough to tackle this challenge?
RadarOnline is reporting that the King is set to abdicate in favor of his son, Prince William. This comes amid the monarch’s cancer battle and Andrew’s arrest for misconduct in public office, with questions being asked about what King Charles and even Queen Elizabeth before him knew of Andrew’s dealings with Epstein.

“King Charles is going to step down. He is going to abdicate, and they are going to use the excuse of his health, which has been declining because [the situation with Andrew] has been very stressful and almost too much for him to bear,” a royal insider said.
The source added, “Charles knew more than he let on, and the whole family has been covering this up. They are all complicit. The whole [royal] machine is complicit in this — from the top down!”
And the source insists it won’t take long, and the abdication could come as early as this summer. “The situation is getting worse and worse by the day,” says the palace insider. “Everybody knows Prince William has been ruthless from the beginning about removing his uncle. He’s going to do nothing to protect Andrew.”
Reports indicate everyone allegedly looked the other way with Andrew. “The queen just thought Andrew was a naughty playboy, but the whole machine was complicit in covering him to protect their own brand,” a palace source indicated, saying what we know now might just be the tip of the iceberg.
And William’s image is relatively clean, particularly in comparison to his older relatives. “Prince William wants to fix the monarchy because he knows it’s the right thing to do. He has better morals, and he is interested in the preservation of the monarchy,” the source continued.
This comes after a source told Rob Shuter’s “Naughty But Nice” Substack in a post published on March 2 that the King is expected to abdicate within the year. “The transition will look measured and dignified. Health provides the most unassailable explanation,” the source said, a reference to Charles‘ battle with an undisclosed form of cancer.
“Charles will not be seen as pushed,” the source continued. “He has waited a lifetime for this role. When he steps back, it will be entirely on his terms.” However, the source also said that William has been taking on a lot of his father’s responsibilities due to his illness.
“In many ways, he’s already king unofficially. The institution is preparing emotionally, even if the paperwork hasn’t caught up,” the source said. The insider continued, “The monarchy survives because it adapts before it has to. If there’s a handover, it won’t feel like surrender. It will feel inevitable.”
Now, we’ll see when and if this becomes official.
