When the former prince Andrew was arrested for suspicion of misconduct in public office, the attention wasn’t just on him; it was on those closest to him. Who knew about his ties with Epstein? Who protected him? Who looked the other way? And who, like Sarah Ferguson, had their own separate relationship with Epstein that’s worth being investigated.

The former Duke of York’s daughters, Beatrice and Eugenie, have especially found themselves under a microscope these days. And the two seem to be trying to come up with a strategy going forward.

A source close to the family told RadarOnline, “Beatrice and Eugenie have found themselves in an extremely difficult position. Every time a new detail about the Epstein case surfaces, it revives the controversy surrounding their parents and places them back in the center of attention. They are trying to work out how to handle the situation in a way that protects their families while remaining loyal to their parents and are now basically locked in crisis talks.”

The sisters reportedly are united emotionally, but don’t necessarily agree on how to handle the situation publicly. “They both feel devastated by what has happened and there is no doubt that they are supporting each other privately. But when it comes to strategy, their instincts are not identical. One believes visible loyalty to their father is important, while the other thinks creating distance from the controversy may be necessary to safeguard their own lives and careers.”

Eugenie, who apparently feels strongly that separation is needed, recently found herself stepping down as a patron of Anti-Slavery International, the world’s oldest human rights organization. She had served as a patron of the organization for the last seven years.

“After seven years, our patronage from HRH Princess Eugenie of York has come to an end,” the organization said. “We thank the Princess very much for her support for Anti-Slavery International. We hope that she continues to work to end slavery for good and deliver freedom for everyone.”

It all comes amid reports that the sisters are thinking very hard about their next public steps. “Beatrice and Eugenie understand that the decisions they make now could influence how they are perceived for many years. They are thinking very carefully about where they appear publicly, who they associate with and how closely they are seen alongside their parents,” another source told RadarOnline.

“Both princesses had been developing strong international networks through their careers, particularly in the Middle East and Europe. But right now their priority is navigating the immediate fallout and protecting their families from further scrutiny.”

And that might require some separation from their parents, as recent reports from RadarOnline indicate they have no intention of helping their mother restore her reputation. “There is a real sense that Sarah expects the girls to step in and fix things for her,” a source said. “That expectation is becoming incredibly difficult for them because they have spent years carefully building their own lives away from controversy.”

“The concern now is that if Sarah keeps leaning on them to restore her reputation, they may feel they have no choice but to create a much firmer distance. The reality is that they cannot afford to be dragged into the same controversies and may now have to totally freeze their own mother out of their lives to avoid being tarred with her toxic brush in royal circles.”
