The arrest of the former prince Andrew has truly shaken things up in the British royal family. For years, everyone, from Queen Elizabeth to King Charles, was content to look the other way when it came to Andrew’s transgressions, and even Sarah Ferguson’s, too. But with the two being featured so prominently in the Epstein files, and then Andrew being arrested for suspicion of misconduct in public office, that time has long passed.
And the repercussions are said to be affecting more than just the former Duke and Duchess of York. Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie are reportedly now basically waiting to see what’s next for them after their parents have been completely shunned. Prince William, in particular, is said to be taking a hard line with the Yorks as he tries to protect the good image of the monarchy that has been so tarnished by recent scandals.

“Beatrice and Eugenie feel like they are living in horrific limbo. They have spent years carefully building respectable private lives, yet the fallout from their parents’ controversies keeps circling back to them,” a source told RadarOnline. “There is a real concern that Prince William wants their heads on the chopping block as part of a harder line on which royals should remain publicly associated with the institution.”
And all of that has apparently been made even worse by their mother’s expectations. RadarOnline previously reported that their relationship with their mother is at a breaking point, all because Ferguson seems to expect her daughters to go to bat for her right now.
“Sarah appears convinced that her daughters represent a pathway back into the social world she once moved in so comfortably,” an insider said. “In her view, Beatrice and Eugenie’s friendships, their positions within royal circles, and their own respected reputations could open doors for her again if they were willing to advocate quietly on her behalf,” the source explained.
Reportedly, Beatrice and Eugenie don’t agree. “There is a real sense that Sarah expects the girls to step in and fix things for her,” the source said. “That expectation is becoming incredibly difficult for them because they have spent years carefully building their own lives away from controversy.”
The two allegedly feel backed into a corner now, and William’s reported reaction is probably added pressure. “Beatrice and Eugenie have effectively found themselves managing the reputational consequences of events they had no role in creating,” the source added.
RadarOnline had previously reported that the princesses were “shattered” by Andrew’s arrest. “Each fresh Epstein disclosure feels like a fresh blow for the sisters,” a source said. “Just when they think the worst of it might be behind them, something else surfaces and drags it all back into the spotlight. It’s completely emotionally exhausting for them.”
So, they’re reportedly being very careful with their next steps. “There’s embarrassment, yes, but also a great deal of sadness. At the same time, they’re realistic. They understand that how they respond now, the choices they make, the company they keep, and the image they project will shape their long-term standing. They’re thinking carefully about every step,” the source said.
