Sarah Ferguson remained close to the British royal family even after her divorce from former prince Andrew. And it’s not just because of her daughters, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie. Ferguson lived with Andrew at Royal Lodge up until 2025, when they were both evicted, and was reportedly close to a number of royals, including the late Queen Elizabeth.
And some are accusing her of betraying the Queen, who she previously described as “more my mother than my own mother” and “an invisible hand of love behind your back.”

Royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams says that Ferguson’s relationship with Epstein proves she possesses “no shame” and “took advantage” of the late Queen.
“We now know that Ferguson’s groveling emails to the deceased pedophile Jeffrey Epstein are proof of her culpability and greed,” he said.
Fitzwilliams noted that the late Queen had a fondness for Fergie, despite her numerous scandals. “Yet the Queen had a soft spot for her, almost as though she was a mother figure trying to resurrect someone who was clearly utterly irresponsible,” he observed.
He also told The Daily Mail: “The full extent of her betrayal of Queen Elizabeth’s good nature is not yet known, with more to come out from the Epstein files.”
Leaked emails show Andrew was not the only one who had a close relationship with Epstein. On January 22, 2011, Ferguson sent Epstein an email addressed to “my dear, dear friend Jeffrey.” In the email she thanked him for a loan, saying, “How can I thank you enough? You are a friend indeed and I will one day give it to you back. But I can not have the words to thank you now. Sometimes the heart speaks better than the words. You have my heart. With lots of love, dear Jeffrey.”
She previously defended herself from accusations that she was too close to the convicted sex offender, telling the Evening Standard in 2011. “I personally, on behalf of myself, deeply regret that Jeffrey Epstein became involved in any way with me. I abhor peadophilia and any sexual abuse of children and know that this was a gigantic error of judgment on my behalf. I am just so contrite I cannot say.”
Until last year, while she was still living with Andrew, Ferguson had shared custody of the queen’s dogs, which she left to her son Andrew, with whom Fergie lived. Speaking at the Creative Women Platform in London, Fergie said: “I have her dogs, I have her corgis. Every morning they come in and go, ‘Woof woof’ and all that, and I’m sure it’s her talking to me.”
Ferguson has not been seen in public since she moved out Royal Lodge, and has not visited Andrew since he was arrested for suspicion of misconduct in public office. The former prince remains under investigation. And with her daughters reportedly choosing to distance themselves from both their parents, Fergie has reportedly been spending time with friend Priscilla Presley.
