Ever since Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez tied the knot in an extravagant wedding in Venice, complete with a who’s who of A-list celebrity guests, people have been interested in what the couple is doing and how they’re getting along. It’s the drawback of so much publicity; now it’s impossible to escape the scrutiny.

That translated to the Oscars, or at least the after-parties. Bezos and Sánchez attended their first Vanity Fair party as a married couple this year, and one particular moment has had people buzzing. And no, it’s not what she wore or if their looks matched, the typical red carpet stuff. Instead, it’s an interaction the two had while posing on the red carpet.

After the couple posed for photographs together, there’s a moment where Sánchez can be seen saying something to Bezos, before he walks out of the shot. Then she puts her hands on her hips and poses by herself. The video of the interaction was posted by Vanity Fair. Normal “we’re done with the couple photos, not let me take one by myself” moment or something else?

Social media, as always, had a lot of opinions. And not many of them were kind or supportive. “Proof that money can’t buy class!” one person sentenced in the comments. Someone else mocked the interaction, noting, “Lauren: Step away, hubby. You’re hogging my camera time,” along with laughing emojis.

It even came with speculations about the state of their marriage. “That honeymoon is over; he didn’t even look at her. Over.”

Perhaps people are overly interested in what the two are like in a red carpet together because of the upcoming 2026 Met Gala, where Sánchez and Bezos are the primary donors and said to be heavily involved in planning. We can expect to see them on the red carpet together then, too.

Sánchez recently spoke about her involvement with the Met Gala while on the Today Show promoting her new children’s book. “It has been such a fun and meaningful experience,” she said. “When Anna [Wintour] called me and said “do you want to co-chair?” and also be the sponsors of the Met I was so honored. And then she told me the theme, Fashion is Art.”

“I think Lauren is going to be a wonderful asset to the museum and to the event,” Anna Wintour told CNN. “[I’m] very grateful for her incredible generosity, and she’s a great lover of costume and obviously of fashion, so we’re thrilled she’s part of the night.”

All of this comes after reports that the two are not really on the same wavelength, particularly when it comes to partying. “Lauren’s energy is non-stop,” a source told Rob Shuter, about the couple’s holiday celebrations. “She was jumping, dancing, laughing — and Jeff was hanging on for dear life. He looked wiped.”

Shuter also said the couple was seen shopping together in Aspen, and once again commented on the difference between their demeanors. “He’s happy, but he’s clearly worn out trying to match her,” another source said.
