The Oscars are a celebration of cinema, yes. But after the ceremony is done, celebrities from all over come together to party. And at the Vanity Fair Party that included even names like Jeff Bezos and his new wife, Lauren Sánchez. But on a party such as that one, on a day where film is celebrated, movie stars still take most of the spotlight. And that happened to Bezos and Sánchez, too.

Nicole Kidman appeared to unintentionally photobomb the couple on the red carpet as she arrived at the party. Videos of the moment show Kidman walking behind them, briefly stepping into the frame. The two continue to pose for a bit, then notice Kidman and watch her for a moment as she moves to pose for her own photos right beside them.

It’s a busy red carpet, and a small one at that. It happens. And photographers seemed to take it in stride, just continuing to take pictures until they got the shot they wanted.

But people dissect red carpet interactions between celebrities almost as much, if not more, than Oscar-winning moments. And that led to some pointed comments on social media about the brief interaction. One fan said, “This queen walked right by and said the movie star is here,” about Kidman, with another adding, “A Chrysler 300 looks like a phantom until a real phantom pulls up!”

Ouch. And it got worse, with yet another fan adding, “She didn’t just photobomb them – she rendered them obsolete.”

Kidman was wearing a gold Chanel gown, while Bezos and Sánchez were color-coordinating in black. This is the first time the actress has attended the ceremony as a single woman in years, rocking the red carpet solo. Kidman separated from her husband of almost 20 years, Keith Urban, in September 2025. Their divorce was finalized in January 2026. They share two daughters, Sunday Rose, 17, and Faith Margaret, 14. During the ceremony, Kidman and Moulin Rouge costar Ewan McGregor presented the award for Best Picture.

In a recent interview with Variety, Kidman spoke about how she’s been handling the separation. “I’m always going to be moving toward what’s good. What I’m grateful for is my family and keeping them as is and moving forward. That’s that. Everything else I don’t discuss out of respect. I’m staying in a place of, “We are a family,” and that’s what we’ll continue to be. My beautiful girls, my darlings, who are suddenly women.”

All of this comes after an interaction between Bezos and Sánchez was also scrutinized. During that same red carpet, there was a moment where Sánchez was seen saying something to her husband, before he walked out of the shot. Then, she put her hands on her hips and posed by herself. Vanity Fair shared a video of the moment, which had people on social media also offering their opinions.

“Proof that money can’t buy class!” one person sentenced in the comments. Another person made fun of what happened, noting, “Lauren: Step away, hubby. You’re hogging my camera time,” along with laughing emojis.
