Keith Urban and Nicole Kidman’s divorce was just finalized in January, but the adjustment to what comes next has reportedly been very hard for Urban. The couple, who announced their separation in September 2025, have gone their separate ways romantically, but what’s reportedly been hard for Urban is that his daughters are taking their mom’s side.
It’s hard to blame them, considering the fact that reports indicate that it was Urban who wasn’t interested in continuing with the marriage. And now, after his older daughter Sunday Rose gushed about her mom in a new interview and failed to mention him, he’s reportedly feeling “numb.”
“He’s trying to put on a brave front,” a source told Australian outlet New Idea, with the report indicating it made Urban feel “like he doesn’t exist.”
Sunday Rose’s interview with Elle Australia saw the teenager refer to her mom as her “biggest inspiration in … life” and “a key part of everything” she does. She also shared “the biggest piece of industry advice” she has ever received from her mom: “Always be on time. It shows that you’re prepared and grateful to be there.”
Urban was mentioned in the piece as Sunday’s dad, but she didn’t bring him up herself.
“He knows he has to be patient; however, this latest snub – so publicly, there in black and white – has stumped him,” the source also added.
In a recent interview with Variety, Kidman spoke about the separation and her daughters, saying, “I’m always going to be moving toward what’s good. What I’m grateful for is my family and keeping them as is and moving forward. That’s that. Everything else I don’t discuss out of respect. I’m staying in a place of, “We are a family,” and that’s what we’ll continue to be. My beautiful girls, my darlings, who are suddenly women.”
This all comes after a source told RadarOnline in March that Urban, who shares not just daughter Sunday Rose but also daughter Faith Margaret with Kidman, was “desperate” to win back his family.
“Keith’s tour has kept him apart from the girls a lot more than he would like. As it is, he had to concede the majority of custody time to Nicole,” the insider said. “According to their divorce agreement, he only has Sunday Rose and Faith every other weekend, but when he’s touring, even that doesn’t work.”
Explains why the girls are so close to their mother.
The source continued, “They’re used to long stretches away from Keith, who’s always been a working musician, but it’s tough. Keith is anxious to line up this trip with a break in the girls’ school schedule, so they can spend proper, relaxed time together.”
Reportedly, Urban would love for Kidman to join him on trips with their daughters, but that’s “not likely” to happen. “They love the Bahamas, so that’s likely where they’ll go. He’d love for Nicole to join them, but she’s still very hurt, so he’s had to accept that’s not likely,” the insider said.
